Look for the JFK references, and the references to Saving Private What's-Her-Name (in Iraq).

Unfortunately, probably the only reason it got made was because of subtle jab at Clinton (the president is bad because he cheats on his wife).

However, the overall all message is that the truth gets manipulated to keep bad people in power, and that evil people will do anything to stay in power (and the media plays along, no matter what sort of curves reality throws).

It also has something to say about "just following orders."
