'Skip it today and give the $ to Kerry at www.johnkerry.com'

If enough people just gave $5, it would make a huge difference. I don't believe anyone here is so tight financially that they can't give up five bucks.

At the same time though, no pressure. Give only if you want to. :hi:

35. It's interesting to lookup who gives what in your zip-code.
Click on the "campaign contributers" link and type in the zip code you want to search.

http://www.melissadata.com/lookups/index.htm

Up comes a list of who donated to what. I noticed that the smaller donations are usually Democrats or unions and the $1000+ donations are usually Republicans (at least in my area). It sort of gives you an idea of what we're up against.

49. It depressed me too, but one thing to consider...
Only donations above a certain dollar amount (100 or 250 maybe) show up on the lists. So there might be a bunch of democrats donating small amounts (a real phenomenon according to Dean's press releases) that don't show up on the zip code search.

27. Question for you Hey Hey
A friend who has a green card said where can she donate to help Kerry. Said she can't imagine a world with Bush in it for 4 more years. I was really touched, but not sure what to say.

Can she donate on Kerry's site if she has a green card/is that considered a resident? She has a house in the US, lives here full time, etc...

If the answer is no, is there anywhere else she can donate?

Thanks.

50. Yes! It's all good!
Can she donate on Kerry's site if she has a green card/is that considered a resident?

(Long time listener, first time caller.)

Yes. There is a checkbox on the Kerry donation page that asks if the donation is being made by a US citizen or a permanent resident (green card holder).

I received my green card this past summer (I'm a Canadian citizen married to an American) and was quite happy to see that it is indeed legal to give to Kerry. So I did. :D

20. I will vote for him, but I can't donate to him until I hear a plausible
reason for voting to give the Chimpster authority to declare war wherever and whenever he feels like it, giving up the constitutional mandate for Congress to declare war. I also expect a rationale for not speaking out against the war prior to invasion because the truth was printed everywhere around the world and being shouted by the CIA and the UN inspectors and he knew it. He also misled the US public.

I also cannot accept his resolution to veto any UN sanctions against Israel, no matter what. We do not need another employee of the Israeli government in office.

I also expect a promise to get to the bottom of 9-11 and I expect him to demand a public investigation into 9-11 with all public officials UNDER OATHE before a REAL investigational body.

I also expect, since we all know the Iraq invasion was based on lies, a full withdrawal with UN troop replacement and cancellation of ALL US corporate and governmental involvement in Iraq effective immediately, with restitution to the Iraqis and monetary payment for the damage we caused.

Maybe then I will throw a few bucks his way. He has to earn my respect.

33. Almost did, but I have a quick question...
And maybe it's a dumb question, but I'm new to political donations.

Can my donation be spent on campaigning for the general election or just the primary?

When I went to his web site, it said that the money will be spent on the Kerry for President primary campaign.

I intended to donate a token amount of money early on for my primary candidate of choice (already did that) and put a larger sum toward the campaign of whoever won the primary.

I just want to be sure that if I donate to Kerry's campaign now it could be spent after the primary is over if he wanted to.

38. I believe that he has to spend the money before the Convention.
... Even though obviously he is now campaigning against Bush and hence, the general election has begun in spirit if not in letter, the Primary funds -- I think have to be spent before the Convention.
Now keep in mind some of that money will be spent on things like computers, and other things that are necessary to run the campaign and will help all the way to November.

But you might want to check at the FEC website just to make sure I know what I'm talking about (cause I'm not sure I do).

68. i was totally dean
and donated several times to dean.

dean can still be a force, if for nothing else than raising a lot of money for kerry, which means he would still be an integral part of the campaign.

so when dean sends me the email to donate to kerry, i will.

dean was the one to really get things going by saying what needed to be said, and he MUST be included in the movers and shakers level of the democratic party.

if not, AFTER (NOTICE I SAID AFTER, FOLKS) the election, and IF the party still plows to the center and right, i would encourage dean to start a new party.

53. I donated on Saturday...
and I plan to donate again this week (after I got paid).

I can completely understand people being reluctant to donate because Kerry's views don't agree with their's (I was an ardent Dean supporter), but consider this:

Kerry spent $41 million dollars to secure the nomination, accumulating a lot of debt in the process and has very little cash on hand. Bush has $150 million dollars on hand to spend bashing Kerry until September, when both candidates receive $75 million in matching funds, which is all the candidates are allowed to spend btween the conventions and the election. The Democratic National Convention occurs about a month before the Puke's convention.

The point is that Shrub will have $75 million to spend in 2 months, while Kerry has that to spend in 3 months. So Kerry has to be strong going into the convention and that is going to be difficult with when he is about $100 million behind Bush at this point.

What ever I can scrape together goes to the candidate who speaks for me. It's not Kerry. I want Dennis Kucinich to know that there are some of us who hear him, some of us who care, and that we appreciate his hard work and his unflagging support of our causes. So my dollars go to Congressman Kucinich.
