watching Nightline? on national security....ABC shameless pandering
I saw just a bit, with David Frum, and some other little dweeb, talking about the bad choices the dems have made in natsec since 1968 (what, letting Kissinger SPY on them during the Paris Peace talks, then leak to the pugs, so they could tell Hanoi to wait for Nixon, for a better deal, thus sabotaging the whole thing......the FIRST October surprise)

anybody else watching this POS?

very hard to stomach

1. Nightline brought us the second October surprise as well.
Reminding Americans every single night about the Iranian hostages, to ensure that Carter would be defeated and Reagan elected.

No surprises here.

3. Rangel on now
Koppel giving him a hard time, saying he didn't answer question about 911 and Bush's most excellent stewardship, making it hard for Kerry to measure up.

Va. governor is saying we need a leader who's "decisive, steady"

Koppel gives him a bit of a smack about "nationbuilding," but that's an easy one, cause they always talk about how things have changed.

idiot governor is blowing it, though, connecting Iraq to the WOT!

bet Koppel won't pounce on that one

he didn't....goes back to stupid nation building question

gov keeps blathering about regional stability in ME

now he's talking about Kerry's "long pattern of diminishing intelligence capability" and some other BS

Koppel's response: "absolutely!"

then says he'll let Rangel respond after commercial

5. I'm missing it, thankfully
I gave up on Ted Craphole a long time ago. ABC has the number one stable of media hoors (Diane Sawyer, Teddy, Little Judas Stephanopoulos, et al) in American broadcasting.
NBC is even worse -- but they stopped even having a pretense of objectivity a while ago. The last time I watched anything on NBC, save for Conan and Law and Order, was on Election Night 2000.
John
I'm watching Letterman instead. Even though it's a repeat (and Dick Gephardt's giving the Top Ten just now).

I keep telling myself not to pay attention.

there's any number of DUers who could do an INFINITELY better job answering these aholes.

and, of course, Gilmore gets botht the opening AND closing statements tonight.

and aNOTHER thing, WHY can't the dems answer this simple question correctly?

they keep saying that it's a BAD idea to change horses in midstream, that we can't possibly move the creature out of our house, cause we're at WAR!!!! they almost always say it's never been done, as well.

huh?

What about LBJ?

weren't we in some sort of conflict back in 68? he didn't even get a chance to RUN, he became so unpopular. if the media were doing their job, dumbo'd be on his way out right about now.

8. The question that needs asking is...
if Bush is so strong on national security, why did the 9/11 attacks succeed in the first place.   Rangle kind of danced around this, but didn't come right out and say it.   How can our worst national security failure, at least since Pearl Harbor, possibly be spun as being a positive for the president on whose watch it occurred?

9. ABC/Disney is just another division of Bushco.
I watched it all the way from the lead-in (hoping they were setting up the opposition to prevail) all the way to the bitter end. Rangel was great as always, but he was the lone voice in this supposedly objective debate. Most of all, I question why they are even exploring the “National Safety” issue this way – limiting it to changing horses in mid stream.

Why didn’t they touch upon who put us in this false war with Iraq costing billions of dollars to our economy and priceless lives? Uh-hem. That’s why we need a new horse.

And why is national safety and security limited to terrorism? Job security and health care are more immediate concerns of mine. I live in NYC and I know that we’ll be targeted again. It will be sooner rather than later thanks to the arrogance and aggression of the * administration.

Anyway, back to my subject line. ABC/Disney news divisions are simultaneously trolling their master and his RW base of consumers. If they really gave a shit about this issue, they would provide a more objective stage to explore the truth. Bottom line: ABC/Disney just wants you to know that “Our news coverage is safe, our theme parks are safe, and our mainstream movies are safe. All is well with the world. Michael Eisner’s network would never show a nipple on national TV. FCC, please don’t find any fault with us. You must weaken our competitors. Disney shareholders, please don’t dump Eisner. America, please buy our products. We respect titillation and if you need more, we’ll do under another label. We’re safe. Please, don’t change the status quo. We like these cuts. Please, America, spend your dollar and waste your time here. You are safe just the way you are.”

OK. I’m back and that probably went on much too long, but that’s what happens when I channel Buscho. And that’s what happens when you watch Nightline instead of David Letterman. How ironic is that?
