Haven't heard that steady couple a day. Has the level of attacks dropped off? Or are they only attacking Iraquis to destabalize/create a civil war?

1. They dont report shit
and the non combat deaths are ignored too..as in suicides arent mentioned as combat deaths..they are also holding back real figures on the casualties..
trying to put a pretty face on it , the Pentagon is using 6 million to offset the mess over there by using propoganda..of course, the Humvees arent fixed, a soldier died in one the other day, and the troops might not get hot meals because Halliburton hasnt paid the 87 million to the food vendors over there
Its a cover up and a blackout

19. the three best I know of,
Lunaville for just casualty reports, Juan Cole's blog for daily updates, and Muhammad Abu Nasr's regular "Iraqi Resistance Reports". The two former sources have their own pages, Nasr's reports are put out every 3-4 days and may be a bit difficult to track down sometimes (takes a day or two extra on occasion).

7. Yes, fatalaties are slowing down.
Based on the counter-intel site, www.Cryptome.org , there's been 579 US military deaths during the Iraq war. But the situation is getting better. In the "post fighting" fighting the worst month was November with 84 fatalities. Since then it's been:

49 needlessly killed American citizens dying for Bush's oil (December)
43 needlessly killed American citizens dying for Bush's oil (January)
31 needlessly killed American citizens dying for Bush's oil (February)
6 needlessly killed American citizens dying for Bush's oil (first 10 days of March)

Barring the insurgents knocking out a troop transport or barracks, the worst seems to be over with. Unless people get riled up over the elections just being a cosmetic cover for continued US occupation.

8. I heard something different
The main body of troops has been withdrawn from the urban center to compunds encircling Baghdad. This would lessen the chances to hide roadside bombs along convoy routes. Also, those huge concrete barriers are everywhere. Seems they have cut back on chopper patrols as well. The immediate result would be more civilian targets.Betcha this is the pattern until Nov. If Chimpy wins, I expect a draft and large scale operations to resume.

9. they are hunkered down I hear
Somewhere on the news in the last couple of days, I heard that. Trying to keep the casualties down before the turnover and the election. Not many convoys and house to house searches anymore.

10. Decline in deaths
Probably due to the strategy of minimizing exposure to the population.
They have been employing Iraqi surrogate policemen to do the work.
They seem to be bearing the brunt proportionately.
However, there isn't any talk of bringing home the troops. So, one is left to believe that they are planning to simply have them on hand warehoused in great numbers occupying fortified secure "green zone" areas and only venture out if there happens to be a civil war or something.

What a waste.

13. Of course kept in reserve
In case there is a major attack on the oil fields, in which case we can expect total mobilization.

14. The "rotation is in high gear"..lots of soldiers are leaving
the "new" ones are being corralled for their safety..and while they learn the "lay of the land"..

More "duties" are being turned over to the under-trained Iraqi police.. They are being killed, but unless there is an errant media person nearby, who does not get blown up too, their deaths are not reported, because Americans don't give a shit about Iraqi deaths..

16. I heard something on the Today Show this morning about a casualty
Although they report, it's done so infrequently and irregularly, that it's hardly getting the attention it deserves. For awhile, I hadn't heard much at all, but then again, I had also stopped watching television because I was so disgusted at the lies.
