Why did Bush* lie about not using 9/11 for political purposes?
Whether one agrees with using the 9/11 ads or not, Bush did say he would not use 9/11 for political purposes. How does he defend that lie, that "flip-flop"? It appears it is all out of necessity.

After all, he knows he will have a difficult time running on the economy or social progress of any kind. All he has left is 9/11 and his supposed "leadership" during the last couple of years. He has no choice but to use it.

Since he has declared 9/11 fair game in the political arena, does that mean it is also fair game for the Democrats? Can they now ask why * is not cooperating with the 9/11 Commission to get the answers to why it happened and to prevent it from happening again in the future? Can they legitimately question his actions and lack of action prior to 9/11? Is this really a plus for the Repubs?

1. why, he's NOT using 9/11 for political purposes
he's using 9/11 to get a 'war president' another 4 years in the oval office.

political purposes would be opposing the president.

when democrats do it, it's politics; when republicans do it, it's patriotism.

haven't you been taking notes?

2. I think the point should be made
that he said he wouldn't use it for political purposes and then he did. Also every time I see it all I can think about is he didn't keep his oath of office to protect us. He was in charge and he failed.

If 9-11 made his presidency then it can take him down due to his lack of cooperation with the 9-11 panel. ONE hour he will give the two chairmen. How can you put a time limit on one of the most tragic and important events that happened on his watch?

3. He changed his mind.

That's all. I think the more damning charge is that he is doing this at all, rather than that he "promised" not to. It's probably just me, but it just sounds juvenile to be harping over what Bush reportedly promised on this.

4. if this is what he is running on
this is what we go after. and say clear and really really slow the reasons he is not the leader that stood strong. there is another side

he ran away, didnt lead on that day

he took world sympathy and turned the world against us, denying the help on fighting terror

his people call 9/11 victims whiners, oh there is the compassion

he prevents blocks the investigation adn shows no respect

he took the war on terrorism out of afghanistan and shifted it to a war for oil

and other things i have forgotten. always with bush there is such a list on every single thing. a chronic liar

5. Because * is a pathological liar, who regularly lies in order to
manipulate public opinion, molify the media, and get Congress to rubberstamp his legal proposals.

When he isn't lying, he misleads with unsubstantiated facts, wrong numbers, and sleight-of-hand logical fallacies.

He's been this way consistently since 1999 when he announced he was going to run for president.

This situation is one more log on the fire.

He is a liar and a hypocrite.

8. yes yes yes

i am to the point with all the info i have gained here, living in texas and a passion for politics since a kid, that i can confidently say to anyone who mention bush,

give me anything he has done or said and i will show you the lie in it. i have people all around that live in lie. lie not hard to see. and anyone that lives in truth can do this. so many of my people they are sheep yet they are wakening. and started seeing this after 9/11 a gift. now many stepped to fear, but they have had the last 2 years of fearing more adn more to where it is all they are. and they feel they are making self and children sick, and i think they are so there to hear, just need it out loud. why i want town meeting in this area.

none of this is hard bush has made it so easy for us.

6. A better question would be
why would you think anyone named bush would not lie about
anything? The entire family has made their political careers
on lying to the public, mostly about their opponents. And
considering what bush did on 9/11 maybe Kerry should adopt a
paraphrased Monty Python song for his campaign:

"When danger reared its ugly head
Bush turned his tail and bravely fled"

9. When did bush say this?
I've heard many times that he wouldn't use 9/11 for political purposes. Does anyone know when he said it, or have a link, quote, etc. ?

10. another i have started to say out loud
to all the repugs and people around me. i am not going to live your fears, i have my own. these are yours. and i am not fighting anymore. have had enough i dont need it. i have other things to do

i think this campaign has to say out loud to the people three years of fear, the democratic people are not going to use it on you.

and cause so easy for me, call us on it, so we too can be this in non fear

that becomes an easy win

take our manilopulation out. and democrats do it the best. and then leaves when bush lies, say lie. and here is why. like kerry is doing. perfectly i see so he can do. i heard a speech to congress, as a very young man. in respect yet with courage. that feels good to me
