How about Tom Vilsack for Vice President?
Al Gore had to work Iowa hard to win it in 2000. A Vilsack candidacy might make Iowa a safer state, thus freeing up resources for other places.

1. Super idea to me...
...the election potentially hinges on the states that border the Mississippi north of Cairo....

2. I'd rather have Harkin

And then Vilsack could tell Leach he'd appoint him to Harkin's seat if he switches parties. Then we instantly pick up Leach's House seat too. Leach is a good guy and would be a pretty good Democrat if he shifted his voting with the party like Jeffords and Campbell did, he's already to the left of Leonard Boswell (the state's only Democrat congressman) on a lot of issues.

3. Harkin'd be a lot better than Vilsack. . .
Vilsack's not doing very well around here. . . . that and I find Harkin to be a truly great down to earth person. . . which if you've seen any of the forums he's hosted on CSpan you'll know for yourself. . . He's the only senator I'd support in the caucus!

5. Vilsack has been mentioned as a possible VP candidate.
Though, I'm not sure if he'd bring anything to the table, electorally speaking. He's a good guy and, along with Harkin, fought back and beat a withering offense from Rove's handpicked candidate in his 2002 campaign.
