First Sunday Citizen Marches to take back our democracy!
I am concerned deeply about the corporate/media monopolies controling our government and culture and the very real possibility of a second coup from the current corrupt maladministration and those that are pulling their strings.

I advocate an insistence from the electorate to have all digital voting machines withdrawn from every polling station in OUR country. This technology is a clear and present danger to true democracy. We MUST insist on having verifiable paper ballots!

Perhaps we could organize high profile citizen marches on every state capitol in the land on the first Sunday of every month until we are heard and the usurping of democracy stops!

Who's up for it?

1. I'm up for it
Live on LI NY and we have the old mechanical voting machines but I'd be willing to help with this in some way.

3. NYC uses the same machines
I don't know how often they break down, but I love using those booths. It is a total visceral experience.

Is MoveOn working on this at all (sorry, I know I could just check their site).

4. I think it has merit
As election day approaches, we could work-in more and more information on how to take direct action. We could also try to get Dean's foundation involved.

The question is whether we can raise interest in the "Diebold states".

5. They can cheat with paper ballots also
because the machines that count them can be rigged

6. Yes but not as easy..
The "paper" machines require much more people involved and therefore greater risk of exposure. As you well know digital technology can be centrally manipulated and rigged so that anomalies are not identifiable

7. Another motive to march is....
too show visable high profile support for "CHANGE" which serves two purposes:

1- Make it more difficult for the powers that be to claim popular support(naturally the majority of protesters would be ABB people). Therefore when the media propaganda machine tries to make this appear to be a close race there would be an obvious contradiction with the reality. As we all know the chimp at 1600 lost by more than 500,000 the first go round and he has most definetly lost more support since (3,000,000 lost jobs, Iraq, Enron, Halliburton,AWOL, Healthcare, Social Security, Outsourcing, etc. etc. etc..

2- It effects a legitimate concern for the need to regain trust in the integrity of the ballot

8. That's why pencil/optical scan is superior
You know, the printed forms with little ovals that you fill-in.

Academia finds them to be superior for tests.

Voters know exactly what paper trail they are creating. If the optical scanners are tampered with then an honest recount /will/ uncover the discrepencies.
