The Bush Doctrine, as employed in Iraq, proposes that we may overthrow whatever governments we see fit, as long as we think they may be a threat to us at some point in the future.
As if that weren't bad enough, now we have the Bush Doctrine II, as employed in Haiti. We may now overthrow sovereign governments simply because they are not doing a good job of governing. This includes freely and fairly elected leaders of sovereign nations.
To quote Colin Powell regarding Aristide, he was "a man who was democratically elected, but
he did not democratically govern or govern well. Now we are there to give the Haitian people another chance."
