Lock up your rights; Mayor Daley and his friends are coming

Sunday, February 29, 2004

Quoted in an opinion piece Monday in the New York Times, Richard Daley and three other U.S. mayors did a good job of sounding sweet and fuzzy on the gunmaker lawsuit immunity issue.

"We do not advocate suing manufacturers in all instances when an incident involving a gun causes harm or injury," they wrote.

"But shouldn't we able to sue manufacturers and suppliers when they act with wanton disregard for the safety of our neighborhoods?"

Who could argue with that? The poor guys are just misunderstood.

In addition to Daley's byline, the essay bore the bylines of Mayor Bloomberg of New York, Mayor Hahn of Los Angeles and Mayor King of Gary.

Well, the truth is that if President Bush "lied" about weapons of mass destruction, these mayors are lying 10 times as hard about their coveted weapon of mass confiscation.

You see, "wanton disregard" means whatever they want it to mean.

2. The CEO of Smith
Wesson got bounce because he had a 15 year jail term for armed robbery on his record. My My you can certainly be assured of the background checks for people purchasing guns.

3. Good point
> 15 year jail term for armed robbery

It just shows what all of those people in that industry are like. They are responsible for their actions, and I don't understand why they aren't help responsible by the courts. They make those things that kill us, and no one in authority is working to stop them. I am ashamed of our party's lack of action in this matter.

4. The second amendment
guarantees a citizen's right to own firearms. Some people are just not too bright. You can't take away the 2nd amendment just because there are irresponsible idiots out there. The gun laws on the books should be heavily enforced as they are.
