I'd be pissed too if I was a spook and I had those a-holes complaining about cooked intelligence when they placed the f*$&ing order!

I think it's a funny image to find them reporting Internet activity to Bush or Ashcroft saying, "Well, we've been scouring the Internet and it turns out that a bunch of people think you guys are complete a**holes!" I also envision it as part of a written report they deliver to him on a silver platter.

It came out we had an FBI "student" in one of our polysci classes at the University of Illinois at Chicago back in the 80's. It came out because he to impress his way into the pants of a fellow student with his employment credentials. Two days after word got out and we never saw him on campus again.

U.S. CONCENTRATION CAMPS

FEMA AND THE REX 84 PROGRAM

(For further information, see pages 135 – 145 in Jim Marrs’ book The War On Freedom)

There over 600 prison camps in the United States, all fully operational and ready to receive prisoners. They are all staffed and even surrounded by full-time guards, but they are all empty. These camps are to be operated by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) should Martial Law need to be implemented in the United States.

"I have been researching in Germany for 5 months now, and everything indicates rapid training of our troops to work side by side with cooperating foreign troops for the coming conquest of America under martial law. As I read the European edition of STARS AND STRIPES almost daily, numerous military publications plus European news journals and newspapers, and interviewing actual military here, I am coming to realize the extent that the American people have been deceived and betrayed into the hands of the New World Order by her very own government and military!

"One military publication shared about a major operation involving three branches of the US military in which they were learning to work intensely together in a contingency exercise. contingency means martial law.

"Here in Europe, Americans are being rapidly trained through the Balkan crisis to work side by side with Russians, Germans and other foreign troops all under the UN blue and NATO. They are being trained in various exercises as: weapons seizures, intimidating resisters to surrender and lay down their weapons, how to operate prisoner detention camps holding resisters of this UN MNTF "peacekeeping" effort complete with guard towers, and more. Jane's defense magazine has published pictures of German Bundeswehr (military) looking over large caches of weapons seized from "insurgents, militants, etc.," all in this obvious training exercise in the Balkans designed to prepared American and foreign troops for the hour of martial law in America.

25. Me too
I was wondering what would happen next time I tried to cross the border. Not that I have any overwhelming desire to go for a visit right now. But after all, I've called the Chimp an asshole and made pointed comments about his lack of intelligence, and also dissed Obergrupenfuhrer Ashcroft in similar terms. Would that be enough to make me too dangerous a subversive element to allow into the land of the free and the home of the brave, or does that perhaps make me a candidate for a debriefing at Gitmo? Although I am not a native born Canadian, at least my country of origin does not make it a practice to indulge in torture, so I am assuming I won't run the risk of being shipped off to some 3rd world hellhole to have the soles of my feet beaten with bamboo rods and/or my fingernails pulled out until I tell my interrogators what the Department of Homeland Security wants to hear.

I wrote a nasty letter to my local fbi office when they investigated Women In Black right after 911 occurred. If they were investigating domestic terrorism, they should look inward. Funny, a week after that, I started getting phone calls from this woman asking to speak to my mother, next night my sister, and both live hundreds of miles away. Coincidence? Maybe.

I write nasty and sarcastic emails to [email protected] when Johnny Boy comes out with a winner.

As one poster noted, I think now it is not an issue. Give the chimp another term, and I think things could change for the worse.

Internet's a window of opportunity for free communication that will close if this regime stays in power. And by "this regime" I mean the RW-dominated three branches of government, plus the corporate-owned "news" media.

About 30 years ago I read about a guy who knew the FBI was tapping his phone, so the first caller of each day was greeted by him with, "Good morning. F*** J. Edgar Hoover."

what day it's going to happen, and how many this or what do you

beautiful mind on something like that?" ~Barbara Bush

48. Here's a bit of the scoop gang, I have a bit of real info
I import top end computer gear and distribute it. One of my clients got a gig to build tons, literally, of dual proc computers to be used for clustered environments and manipulate unprecedented large databases (multi-petabyte size). Hmmmmm why might that be?

Since it makes no difference to them where they buy these parts I console myself with the thought that at least I employ US citizens with the money and donate to Dem candidates. I don't know about my clients however.

NSA already has for years had a buried room full of crays the size of a football field, wonder why... my understanding is that they were once cabable of filtering all electronic communications. But then the Internet got popular and they got outsized.

Get real, this has been going on for a long while and it is increasing at an astonishing pace.

There are several reports out there about the recent infiltration of peace groups by various law enforcement agents -- the kind of shit they used to do during the 60s, and that some will say has never really stopped.

Civil rights groups have also begun to take notice and lodge protests.

Considering how much anti-war activism is featured here, I would be seriously surprised if the site ISN'T monitored.

55. Everyone on the internet is
It's called the NSA - check out something called CARNIVORE.

Thankfully, they have made so many personnel cuts in recent years that it's unlikely they have anyone actively monitoring us.

67. Hi Mari...I had another thought on this..
If shrubya is in such deep do do now, the "watching" may be a lesser problem soon. When he is kicked out on his keester, we can hope that the Patriot Act(Spies) will start to back down anyway...
**sigh of relief** LOL

59. Of course we are being 'watched'...
it does not take a PhD to see that we are considered a threat. Many other sites are being taken in as well. In fact, ALL of electronic information is being taken in.

We here at DU are a disgruntled group, no big deal. We are not a 'threat', as per overthrowing the gov't by violent means. There are far more sinister groups out there, most of them of 'ultra-right wing'
persuasion.

I've been here a long time. I hate bush, I want bush out of office, maybe even banished from the country...but I don't want him assassinated. I want him out legally, ethically and Constitutionally.
The vast majority of DU'ers are of the same mind. We don't like the bum, we just want to get rid of him and his band of thugs.

There are far larger fish out there that pose more of a threat than we do.

I'll still call this admin a bunch of ignorant assholes that are destroying our nation, and if the SS comes to my door, I'll let them in. I have nothing to hide; I am, a patriot! I want OUR country back, if it costs me my freedom to ensure the freedom of the rest of the country, so be it. Sometimes, sacrifice is well worth the price.

70. I feel the same way Rasputin
We are a long way from mainstream here, but all we do is exercise our constitutional right of free and open speech. We don't plan or advocate physical violence, expressing a desire to return one's country to a free state is not a criminal offense, not yet anyway.

About the only thing the govt. could do here is be educated, which it should be already.
If they really are concerned about the members of our society, I'd think they would be more concerned about those who like to blow stuff up and spread poison.

Edited on Wed Feb-04-04 03:39 AM by Confound_W
There's nothing even remotely dangerous going on here, unless participating in a time honoured democratic process gives their collectively skivvies a nasty twist!

In other words, damn right they watch.

74. well they have this huge anti-terrorism database
It only works if they enter as much information about as many people as possible, otherwise they could not have it do its automatic analysis to try and fid possible terrorism related activities - including domstic terrorism. And we know how the GOPers think something like being critical of Bush is equivalent to helping the enemy.
Does anyone think they are in fact not using that system?

75. We're ALL Spooks
In effect, aren't we? We gather information, analyse information, and share information amongst our peers. Our goal is figuring out what "the other side" is up to, and how to prevent or deflect it.

A surface observation might suggest that our resources for intelligence gathering is inferior, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it, since we have such a broad cross-section of almost anonymous sources.

Of course, like any intelligence gathering body, we are prone to infiltration and disinformation ops.

If activity on DU is NOT monitored in some regard, someone isn't doing their job.

If I were them, I'd watch us, wouldn't you?
