This morning a link under the news of the most recent violence in Iraq,
http://edition.cnn.com/ (police station bomb: 11 dead, roadside bomb 3 soldiers dead) reminds, troubles, and infuriates me as an American citizen.
The first link below the war headline is "Whitehouse ponders WMD intelligence . . ."
http://edition.cnn.com/2004/US/01/30/sprj.nirq.wmd/index.htmlIt is a surreal and confusing concept - "pondering" the intelligence that was used to build a resolution to invade another country - almost 12 months after the invasion.
My fist reaction is to immediately go rent a bus, drive directly to Washington, gathering as many souls aboard as possible along the way, and protest this administration, staying there until November - day of reckoning for gw*. I, unfortunately, am unable to do that. Family, work, bills, kids, and a dog that needs a walk every day.
However, my heart and soul is with the over 520 American families who have lost a soldier in Iraq, the thousands of Soldiers who have been injured, the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi families that needed the world to help them find peace, but got a coalition of 1* dropping bombs and opening fire.
And now, almost twelve months later, the coalition of 1* "ponders" the intelligence that sent soldiers to die and bombs to kill.
Where are the young, energized, and active voices from schools, farms, and cafe's? Why are they not on a bus. I will support you with $$$. Go make a difference!!!
But most of all, VOTE in November. Bring this surreal story being played out daily to an end.
