1. Just long enough to...
Make him irredeemable.

I wish him great success in whatever fast food outlet becomes his new career.

2. I think they will keep it around till September
Then they will "temporary" replace it for some election show. Come November, they will make it official.

Just my guess.

Oh, wait. Wrong forum.

I'd say he won't even last that long.

Easter, maybe?

But since that isn't really the question, I say it will be done by June.

11. In it's debut
Nothing unusual in that. The question is will people keep coming back. I rather doubt it but I've no idea how long CNBC will carry it once the ratings plunge. If ratings were all that mattered Donahue would still be on.

Oh, and welcome to DU

Once the newness wears off, it's anyone's guess where the ratings will go. Who cares? Who watches tv anyway? :)

BTW, thanks for the welcome!

10. He will be around for a while. At least until past the elections...
Like Hardball and Scarborough Country, GE (and other multinationals) will subsidize his show in order to keep his conservative propaganda on the air. That's their objective. Making money from advertising revenue is a secondary consideration.

19. It's Horrible, I watched about 5 minutes
it's like a late night local cable show. A few blowhards were slandering dems and smirking. It wasn't funny or entertaining or interesting, not even as something to make fun of.

I don't think a show that bashed chimp for more than 2 minutes would be entertaining either, it's just to shallow. Someone like Don Rickles might be able to pull it off but, it'd be because some actual truth would be involved in the stereotyping.

Propaganda is never-changing so regardless of how mind-numbing Miller is, it's a tough call on how long the Goebbles of American propaganda will leave it on.

26. True but they can't ignore low ratings
because it makes the "Cause" llok bad if nobody is watching. Next project: manipulating the ratings.

22. It, and he, are so bad that I almost LOVE it
I just watched it tonight and my GOD he comes across as such an obnoxious, ignorant, overprivileged asshole that I actually was laughing at it!

It's the "give 'em enough rope" syndrome. The guy is living proof how out of touch and stupid these kinds of people are.

He actually had the gall to suggest that 45 million people in America who don't have health care don't WANT it. He said that people who are unemployed aren't LOOKING for work.

It was really really astounding. And David Horowitz was right there with him, looking like even more of an asshole.

Edited on Wed Jan-28-04 01:22 AM by Cat Atomic
If you're conservative, you don't have to be good. Lick enough Bush and they'll keep you on the air forever.

I think I'll keep track of this. I'll see how Miller's ratings compare to Donahue's, and how long he stays on the air. I expect CNBC will be alot more forgiving with Miller.

If these media celebrities get comfy and say enough embarrassing crap like that, a clever montage could cost them a few publishing venues.

32. ...and Mallard Fillmore is soooooooo unfunny!
"Conservatives" and "Comedy" have never mixed well.

Miller's show will last as long as his first talk show (I believe that shitfest was on for only 13 weeks). Here's a review from his first show (from imdb.com):

Dennis Miller never has and never will be funny. You can not be funny and try to prove you are smart at the same time, it doesn't work. It also doesn't help that Dennis Miller is an egotistical idiot. Other comedians manage to be very smart without trying to be: Chris Rock, George Carlin, Al Franken, and best of them all Bill Mahr.

He was never funny on SNL and he is even less funny on his show.

And it doesn't help that he's annoying.

29. At least as long as y'all keep watching it
I just don't get why the hell any of you would waste your time with this bozo. You already know what he's going to say, what guests he's going to have on... You know he's a gorram idiot. So what's the attraction? Why give him any more viewers than he deserves?

30. I watched about ten minutes of it last night...
...out of morbid curiosity. The first thing that struck me was basically how boring it was. Dennis' "I know more big words than you do" act gets old prettly quickly. Then I noticed how bloated he looked -- if I squinted a little, he even sorta resembled THE SAVAGE WEINER! ..... so, that's my answer: I figure he'll last about as long (give or take a week) as THE SAVAGE WEINER! did...

31. I won`t watch. Miller is a sick puppy licking his evil masters wounds.
Bu$h murders. Miller apologizes for him. Same old tired stuff all the "to pompous to count votes" Republicans engage in. He is not funny just a tool for the hate mongerers who used a judical coup to screw up our country. I hope he goes down with the chimps sinking ship. Since he agrees with murdering Iraqi`s for the dirty deed done by Bu$h`s former Arbusto bussiness partner. Osama Bin Forgotten.
Peace

33. You might be surprised if his show is nothing but bashing Dems..
He could be around with his lame ass show clear into Nov as long as he keeps it one sided. Hell, look at Scarborough, his ratings aren't shit, actually lower than what Donahue had but he's still got a show.

Gee,wonder why??
