BP Solar Neighbors Program on Larry King Live Saturday January 24th
About the BP Solar Neighbors Program

"Celebrities are soaking up the sun with BP Solar panels – making pollution free electricity for their homes and at the same time helping low income families in California - all as part of the BP Solar Neighbors™ Program." More at: http://www.bpsolar.com/news.htm

~~~~~~
More good news for California, I guess. Meanwhile here in Virginia we don't have a single incentive for the use of alternative and renewable energy technologies! NC, MD, PA, NJ, CT, and many other states have had skyrocking growth (relatively speaking) in the use of solar, wind and other clean technologies because of tax, rebate and other incentives and forward thinking leadership.
SIDE NOTE: Not to bad mouth BP solar TOO much... While they are doing nice warm fuzzy things in California, up until last year, they had a manufacturing plant here in Virginia that employed over 150 people making "thin film" amorphous silicon solar pannels - although they didn't offer any warm fuzzy programs here to spead the word about their products. Then all of a sudden they they made a "strategic business decision" and pulled up anchor a split.
1. Los Angeles DWP does one up
See: http://www.ladwp.com/ladwp/cms/ladwp004037.jsp
While the credits are no longer so generous, I've heard they are still among the best around.
Also note:
"LADWP also offers Los Angeles Manufacturing Credit (LAMC) towards solar photovoltaic equipment built by companies with PV manufacturing facilities inside the city."
So you buy your photovoltaics from Siemens, who manufactures them in LA.
3. SMUD also has a rocking program
Unfortunately our incumbent utilities are not so progressive. We had to fight tooth and nail to get net metering of excess renewably-generated electricity (a measly 10 kilowatts max) on the books in Virginia because the utilities were afraid of lost revenues from homeowners hooking up their PV systems with the utility grid.
2. Do you notice how it is the FOREIGN oil companies that are.....
investing money into alternative energy sources as they do understand that there is no future in fossil fuels. The American companies are falling behind and it is frightening to see what will become of us if we do not advance along with the rest of the world.
4. Yes, but ExxonMobil is funding climate studies at Stanford!!
The time for talk is past! They've decided that it's time to take action and are giving Stanford tens of millions of dollars (over decades, of course) to pay people to study the climate some more.
