Progressive radio w Al Franken, Michael Moore, Gore Vidal (per Vidal)
I just got back from seeing Gore Vidal speak and answer questions
at the Seattle Opera House (McCaw Hall). And yes I'm bragging,
but not just that.

He had some news about the progressive radio network that, as
we all know, Al Franken will be on. Vidal said that Michael
Moore was also supposed to be on the air with it. He also
said that Norman Lear was a major force behind it, and that he'd
spoken to him frequently about it, last night most recently, and
Vidal has agreed to participate!

!!!!!!

From the mouth of the Great Man himself.

1. Awesome
And I'm seriously jealous.
I'm in Seattle and I'm sitting here watching TV, you're listening to one of the most brilliant men alive.

Very cool news!

Thanks, for the report.

3. Thanks. I've wanted to see him for the longest time, and I was so
nervous up until the second it started that it'd be canceled
for some reason. But it went on, and he was brilliant and hilarious,
and the huge crowd loved him.

I got his latest book autographic afterward and chatted with him!
Just him and me.
And I told him he's my favorite author. I was speaking for both
of us of course.

I've never felt more in the presence of true royalty.

He also spoke a lot about BBV. The BBV folks spoke to him
before the talk, the asked him a question in the Q&A session,
and he stated definitely that Max Cleland was BBV'd in Georgia.

Vidal said that if pols don't fight to clean up this kind of
dirty election crap it's likely 'cause they're hoping the
dirty tactics will benefit them sometime.

He was friggen fascinating. As he always is.

Thanks for the info, Loren645, and I too am in Seattle, but sitting here at my dining room table watching Jon Stewart and posting on DU and YOU ARE AT THE OPERA HOUSE WITH GORE VIDAL.

Excuse my exuberance, a la Howard Dean I guess. ]

Details, details, please!!!!

We are salivating for details!

(And please tell us Seattleites who haven't been to the new Opera House what it is like....)

9. I'll write something up, esp on the Q&A sierra_moon.
I'm fading fast though, so can't get done tonight.
I'm glad you're exuberant about The Great Man (and Dean's
demeanor was likewise perfectly appropriate on Monday; and
he's handling it esp well in the media smear aftermath -
with *humor*!) too. Vidal is certainly that. What a mind.

The opera house itself is nothing special architecturally.
Not a gorgeous place like Radio City Music Hall or anything.
But it, of course, has good accousics.

I much prefer seeing individuals at the Paramount (where
Michael Moore was Spike Lee will be), because they project
the person onto a big screen so that those in the cheap seats
(me...Moore called us "communists" :)) can see the friggen face
without a telescope.

The opera house *rents* out binoculars for $5.
Ticket price get's ya in the door. But if ya wanna *see* them...

7. I have but ONE question....
WHEN????

They are going to fiddle around and get it on the air too late.. We need it NOW... We needed it a YEAR ago :(.. Would the "war" have been as easy to start if there had been voices against it..loud voices..

8. I know SoCalDem; it's taking too long. I'm frustrated about that too.
And Vidal didn't say. I'm gonna try writing M. Moore to push him on it.
We do need it NOW. During the campaign.

Let's push.
