Do you support Gephardt, Lieberman, or Sharpton?
Edited on Sun Jan-18-04 10:48 AM by Skinner
Write an endorsement for your candidate to be published on our homepage!

I posted a thread asking for endorsements for all of the candidates, which will be posted on our homepage on Monday:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=122356&mesg_id=122356

Based on the response so far, I'm fairly confident that we are going to have some articles in favor of Dean, Clark, Edwards, Kerry and Kucinich. (I haven't received them all yet, but it looks like we'll be okay.)

However, based on the response, I'm not sure if we're going to get any articles in support of Gephardt, Lieberman, or Sharpton. If you support one of these candidates, I hope you'll take some time to write up an endorsement and send it to me before 4:00PM today. It only takes one person to write a half-decent endorsement. Here's your chance to tell the world why your candidate is the best.

My email address is [email protected]

Thanks.

2. Please give this thread an occasional kick.
I don't want to pin it to the top, because I think many people ignore pinned threads.

Thanks.

I like all the candidates, except for Lieberman, he should switch to republican.

I like Dean, Clark, and Kerry. Any of those 3 are fine with me.

I say pin it to the top, lol.

I don't ignore pinned threads. Do people really ignore them ?

I scan the first two pages, if I see a thread I like I read it. I don't care if it's
pinned to the top or stuck at the bottom.

16. Why I like Lieberman
This will take care of the need to kick this topic, as people will line up to kick ME!

I believe Lieberman is the only candidate who has a realistic appraisal of the situation we face in the Middle East. I believe this is the key issue of our time, one that will determine if our future is one of prosperity, security, and freedom or of a fearful isolationism where we continue to sacrifice liberty for security.

There are two engines that are driving the problems in the Middle East, and neither one of them is Iraq (although it could grow to be the third): 1) the Israeli/Palestinian conflict and 2) the worldwide growth of Wahabiism. Neither one of these will be resolved through appeasment or isolationism, nor for that matter through rational dialog alone. The radical (and now further radicalized) Palestinians want Israel pushed into the sea. The Wahabi islamists want the whole western world to submit to their ideals of 14th century living and the Shari`ah. These are true enemies of freedom itself, and we are in fact in a worldwide conflict against them. The next president needs to explain not just how he would get out of Iraq, but how he would engage and provide leadership for the free world in confronting these forces. Lieberman's experience and long history of principled engagement and confrontation of these problems is what we need.

Lieberman seems about as republican as Clinton on other issues, so if you consider Clinton a DINO then you won't be happy with Leiberman. I thought Clinton's domestic policies were a pretty good compromise so I'm satisfied that Lieberman will continue in that vein.
