Nascar Dads - Time for a Reality Check
http://www.hardnewsnow.com/nascardads.html

Attention All Nascar Dads…. I write this in response to a clip of news I witnessed on Speed Channel in the last couple of days, where Donald Rumsfeld was cheered by the Audience at a Nascar Meet this past weekend, as if he was a Great Roman Warrior being giving a standing ovation in the Coliseum of Rome during the days of the Roman Empire's Dominance of the World. President Bush received the same type of Ovation at the opening of the 2004 Nascar Season at the Daytona 500.
This is why, I write the following commentary, opinion, whatever you want to call it, on what is really going on regarding Us, the people of the United States of America, You, Me, Everyone under the leadership of the President George W. Bush as Todays War in Iraq Rages On and Tomorrows Wars have yet to begun.

Nascar Dads - Time for a Reality Check

September 14, 2004

You work all week, you provide for your family, you raise your children, you get away from it all and go to the races whenever you can, and even if you don't make it to the track when the big race comes to town, you are most likely at your local track on Saturday Nights, and whenever you can, Watching the Big Race Sunday on TV.

Ok, so maybe some of you are working Saturday Nights, and maybe some of you are working on Sundays, at least you have Speed Channel to tune in to during the week to catch up on all that's going on.

Whatever you are doing, you are working, working hard, working for your family, putting your own pleasures aside when you have to, and you are Proud of What you Do, you are Proud to be an American.

The chances of you being able to pay attention to the fine details of Current Events are not good, no fault of your own. Network News has devoted more time to Kobe Bryant, Laci Peterson, Michael Jackson and Swift Boat Veterans in recent months than they have on what is going on in Iraq.

Nascar Dads, Listen Up, the President of the United States, George Bush recently made a phone call appearance on the Rush Limbaugh Show. Why is this important? Well, Rush Limbaugh has made light of the fact that Iraqi POW's were being tortured in Prisons by a small group of soldiers who were put in charge of watching these inmates with no training at all on how to deal with prisoners.

Ok, so what's wrong with that? I'll tell you. What are the American, Coalition and Iraqi's who joined the Coalition POW's going through right now in Iraq in the hands of the Bad Guys? What will future American POW's be going through in the future in the hands of the bad guys?

Nascar Dads, many of you are Veterans, many of you served in the Military during war, many of you were fortunate not to have had to experience battle. But to all of you I ask, how in the world, can the President of the United States Endorse, rather than Condemn American Broadcasters who Make Fun and Endorse Torture of Enemy POWs.

Is this the type of leadership you want your fellow countrymen to have to deal with when its their turn to go to war, whether it's the current Iraqi war or future wars that we all know are down the path that the United States is now on?

Rush Limbaugh, along with a large number of other radio and TV talk show hosts, have endorsed torture, saying 'better them than us'.

Right now there are a few missing Americans in Iraq. There are members of the Coalition who are in the custody of the Bad Guys. There are Iraqi's who joined the Iraqi Police Force, trained to protect their countrymen by US Forces, all wanting a better Iraq, a Free Iraq, that have been kidnapped and are in the hands of the Bad Guys. What sort of Torture are they now going through, and are they hearing the recordings of Rush Limbaugh and all of these other Talk Show Hosts endorsing torture?

Are they hearing clips the President of the United States of America, President Bush exchange dialogue with Rush Limbaugh and then hearing clips of Rush Endorsing Torture against Iraqi POW's? Rush Limbaugh for months has been making light of this Torture, comparing it to fraternity pranks, and despite being criticized by many in America, the President had the Nerve to go on his show, and not once did the President tell Rush Limbaugh he was wrong. Neither did the White House Press Secretary when confronted with these absurd statements made by Rush Limbaugh at the Daily News Briefings at the White House, telecasted nationwide, and worldwide. The Entire World has seen the Bush administration and Bush himself, NOT SPEAK OUT AGAINST THOSE WHO HAVE ENDORSED TORTURE when given the proper opportunity to rise to the occasion and show the world that we, Americans, and the Country of America stand above the evils we are now fighting. The President did not take advantage when the appropriate time arose; instead, he played into the arena of absurdity.

As a fellow American I ask you, how can you support a President who Has Not Condemned those who have promoted torture? Yes, Bush did come out and say that what those few soldiers did was wrong, but Bush has not confronted the mainstream talk show crowd and condemn their continued rants that the torture that went on was 'no big deal'.

As a fellow American I ask you, How can you accept the fact that your fellow man will be sent to this Iraqi War, and future wars with an Administration that does not immediately condemn this sort of Yellow Belly Behavior by these so called talk show hosts.

As a fellow American, I ask You, How can You show Any Respect to President Bush, a man who has crossed the line by this blatant disregard to the Geneva Convention by talking to a Radio Personality who has promoted Torture of Enemy POW's.

I want remind all of you that Jessica Lynch was in custody of the Iraqi's in the midst of battle in the beginning of the Attack on Iraq, which was over 500 days ago. She was Not Abused, she was Not Tortured, contrary to all of the immediate misleading statements put out by the Bush Administration when that sad snippet of history was unfolding before our eyes.

But what will happen to the next Jessica Lynch resulting from the consequences of American Media being dominated by Comments making light of the torture? What will happen if someone from your town becomes the next Jessica Lynch? You know what will happen, and you are seeing and hearing about the beheadings that are going on now in Iraq of American and Coalition POW's.

How is your community, your Church congregation, yourself going to be able to deal with the fact that someone you all know is in the hands of the bad guys? Especially while the Media continues to allow these people Endorse Torture of Enemy POW's on American Airwaves that are heard world wide while President Bush indirectly endorses these absurd statements by personally speaking with, and or having his cabinet speak with these Yellow Belly Talk Show Hosts, most who never served a day in the Military!

These are questions Americans need to start to ask themselves. These are the issues that we are going to be faced with as we continue down the Path of War that the United States of America is now on.

Thank you for your time.
