Electoral fraud claim returns to haunt America’s sunshine state
<snip>
In March, during the Democratic primary, precincts with touch-screen rather than optical machines registered eight to nine times as many blank ballots. “There is no reasonable reason for the discrepancy,” said Ion Sanchoone, an election supervisor.
<snip>

But in the state’s first major test of touch-screen voting, in Miami in 2002, almost all of the records disappeared in two computer crashes a few months later. The loss only emerged in July after a citizens’ group demanded an audit.
<snip>

On Friday, a state appeals court dismissed a lawsuit that sought a paper trail, ruling that voters are not guaranteed “a perfect voting system”.
<snip>

Accenture has also given $300,000 in campaign contributions, favouring Republicans two-to-one, says the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.

1. i haven't been following this very closely, but aren't the new machines
mostly in the "well to do" neighborhoods? Don't most of the poorer areas still use the old units?

If that's the case I wonder how many Bushit votes will get lost in "touchscreen" hell?

5. There isn't much in Florida.................
that doesn't suck. I lived there until three months ago. I now live in the relative sanity of an up-state NY town and love it here.

Florida is an illusion. Pretty contact paper covering cheap particle board. Don't dig too deeply, you'll not like what you find.

3. entirely bogus.. not allowed a 'perfect' system? How about accurate vote
counts?

These judges should be ashamed of themselves.

Oh, that's right... facists have no shame.

4. DidJaNo
Accenture is really the old Arthur Andersen accounting firm of Enron fame. Naturally they are Jebbies chosen group to be one of the two biggest State contractors.
