A Reporter Finally Stands Up To Bush
A Reporter Finally Stands Up To Bush... No, sorry, not an American; So he files a complaint with her embassy and cancels another, already scheduled interview with Laura Bush... What a surprise!

By Anthony Wade

OpEdNews.com

I hope everyone takes notice of the quiet story today, trying to fly under the radar on a relaxing Sunday afternoon. The White House filed a complaint with the Irish Embassy in Washington over RTE journalist Carole Coleman's interview with US President George Bush. As if this was not enough, they then canceled an already agreed upon interview with Ms. Coleman and Laura Bush as an “I’m taking my ball and going home” gesture. Chutzpah in the dictionary now officially has a picture of this administration.

What was Carole Coleman’s great sin you ask? Well she asked the President honest questions that are on the minds of everyone around the world. She asked them respectfully, quietly and candidly. We just cant have that in a day and age where the media has written Bush a blank check and he is used to contrived questions and pat answers. The President, not used to being asked difficult questions, tried his level best to intimidate Ms. Coleman, repeatedly extending the length of his answers just so he could tell her stop cutting him off. She was not being abrasive, he on the other hand came off as defensive, controlling, and bullying.

Substantively, lets take a look at the interview. For starters, Bush answers the first question, by again stating that Abu Ghraib is the result of actions of some bad apples. This point has been proven wrong. Then to answer a question about how people are angry at the US over Iraq, Bush again goes into lie mode saying that people should focus on Saddam and the “mass graves”. No mention of the fact that the Iraqi citizens have had to bury thousands of their own because of this invasion. He then continued, by saying that Saddam used WMD on his own people, which is certainly not a confirmed fact. At this point, Bush is rambling on about how the UN had told Saddam to disarm, and Ms. Coleman tries to correctly point out that no WMD have been found. Bush, not used to having a reporter actually ask him a tough question, or point out a misdirection, actually interrupts her and tells her “can I finish”. He finished by saying, “the UN told him to disarm or face serious consequences, and guess what, he didn’t disarm and therefore he faced serious consequences”. What??? He didn’t disarm? Really Mr. Bush, then where are the WMD? He actually breezed right by this lie and went directly into another by stating that we “have found that he had the capacity to make weapons”. What??? When was this found Mr. President? Is this the weather balloons you are talking about? The truth is that we have found no such capacity. He then finishes this stream of unconsciousness by using his favorite tag line; “no one can say that the world is not a better place without Saddam in power”.

3. Imagine that...
A reporter showed him for the lying, incompetent fool that he is and now he is mad. How dare the truth about him or his administration come out!

This is making a mockery of our great nation. Bush can't handle the tough questions so he files a complaint. This is sick. :grr:

9. If just one reporter would
ask George Bush to "Swear to God" that .....fill in your own question.Bush has never testified under oath while he has been in the White House. I wonder if his faith is strong enough to make him tell the truth or if he is simply afraid of committing perjury. If just one reporter would ask him to swear to God that reporter would never get another chance to ask him questions but he could win a Pulitzer without ever getting an answer. There must be at least one brave journalist left in the world!

4. She's lucky.
The editor of the National Enquirer was anthraxed, along with a host of other liberal journalists and just enough liberal senators to shift control of the Senate back to the Republicans (though fortunately only the NE editor died), James Hatfield committed suicide after being threatened with imprisonment and economic ruin. Those reporters who were cursed at by Rove and denied future access are the lucky ones.

6. We use to have good reporters here. I wished I really knew what it is
that prevents them from being tough on this administration. Lou Dobbs seems to understand that another 4 years of this and this country will be destroyed.

How can they see all that is wrong and not feel a duty to report accurately? Last night on Hardball they were saying that the independents who see F9/11 will not realize the inaccuracies in the film and just believe what they see. They didn't point out any inaccuracies by the way. Yet daily 24/7 right wing radio and TV make up lie after lie an nothing is said about it. There are LTTE's in our paper every week where the writer calls the Dems unpatriotic or communist or socialists or treasonous but no rebuttal.

I don't know what the silver bullet will be but I think this too shall pass.

18. Well, that thread is full of fun facts.

I especially enjoyed the comments of one frequent visitor to Limerick, explaining that the good people of that town "appreciate that Saddam is gone and that they did not have to do it themselves." So Saddam no longer threatens Limerick, and apparently the relief there is palpable.

8. The next time Bush makes this statement....
“no one can say that the world is not a better place without Saddam in power”. I wish someone would ask: " HOW IS IT BETTER????" Really! I don't think there is a cconsenus in Iraq that they are now better off...so in what respect is it that is it that the WHOLE WIDE WORLD is better off???

17. taken from Free republic...
Here's the entire interview on mp3. It's at least ten megs big, but if you really want to hear the entire thing, there it is.
Bush-Coleman interview.

The President tells Coleman "Let me finish..." at least five or six times. That is as close to confrontation as he gets.

Here, in a nutshell, is the entire ideological confrontation between the USA and the liberal-socialist axis. Socialists articulate their pathological reactions to momentary impressions using loaded language calculated infer the worst possible image of the USA, and instead of unambiguous disdain, confronting the premises and refuting the conclusions as any good teacher would with a disruptive student radical, Bush tries to picture us as the nicest people you'd ever want to meet.

the small clip I saw of this interview made the man in the White House look VERY, VERY, bad! Like a defensive, whining ten year old. Oh wait, he is a defensive, whining 10 year old! :)
