GOP's anti-business meme on Obama
The media cheerfully picked up and has repeated the propaganda spread by GOP that Obama is "regarded as anti-business" (NOTE the GOP spread the "big lie" not as "obama is anti-business" but by saying: "Obama is regarded as anti-business". It is much more effective that way...at least when M$M happily repeats it without asking "who regards him as anti-business?". THis has the added propaganda effect of suggesting to businessmen what they think("Oh, I guess if I'm a real businessman I should think Obama is against me").

Also, it's supposed to characterize, again, all the emergency steps taken by Obama to save the country from falling into the second Great Depression as "anti-business" policy decisions. Obama had no choice but to bail out banks (TARP of course was started by Bush, but let's not let reality get in the way of a good "Big Lie").

Obama was the one who expanded TARP to include GM and Chrysler. ANd who were the ones screaming aabout that? Democrats? NO, it was the REpubs who were going crazy about loaning money to GM and Chrysler. Do Businessmen consider THAT an antibusiness policy???

Who was screaming "let the banks fail!"... Republicans.

What about health care reform, one of the biggest blocks pushing FOR health care reform were corporate CEOs. Because they could see that the way the cost of group health insurance was going they were not going to be able to afford it in a few more years. THEY KNEW SOMETHING HAD TO BE DONE ABOUT INCREASING HEALTH CARE COSTS --- IF THEY WERE GOING TO REMAIN COMPETITIVE WITH EUROPEAN COMPETITORS.

Obama never has been anti-business. THis if part of the GOP's relentless campaign of disinformation and part of the Big Lie that Obama is far "LEFT". M$M never bothers to point out that Obama's policies are quite moderate.

THe GOP is also trying to appeal to those who think regulation of business is all bad. Many in business actually DO believe this. Of course, it's not true. THe BUSH administration proved how IMPORTANT AND NECESSARY regulation is with the DEREGULATION DISASTER. THE financial services industry nearly wiped itself (and our economy) out. And before the Wallstreet Banksters there was ENRON (let loose by the same Commodities Futures Modernization Act that let Wall Street go wild with Credit Default Swaps). ENRON ripped of California consumers for BILLIONS of dollars before it blew itself up and went BANKRUPT. WE NEED REGULATIONS TO SAVE BUSINESSMEN FROM THEMSELVES. WITHOUT REGULATION WE WILL JUST HAVE BUBBLES FOLLOWED BY CRASHES EVERY 10 TO 14 YEARS -- LIKE CLOCKWORK. PEople's greed can always BE counted on to get them into trouble, over and over again.

WHen cars were a new item, there were NO TRAFFIC LIGHTS! Finally, after a growing onslaught of terrible wrecks stop-lights were installed at busy street-corners. No doubt there were some idots then who regarded stop lights as horrible socialist infringements on their liberty. But it saved lives and (Repubs read this: ) it enhanced the flow of traffic (crashes have a way of slowing things down). Even without the crashes, using stop-lights to control traffic flow is works better than everybody trying to dodge each other on a 'hit or miss' basis. The same principle applies to banking and all business activity. Have a system of rules (basically meant to prevent cheating) which everybody follows and everybody is better off.
