Enough right-wing propaganda
By E.J. Dionne Jr.
Monday, July 26, 2010

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/07/25/AR2010072502756.html?wpisrc=nl_most

It's time to stand up to the Fox News crowd.

The smearing of Shirley Sherrod ought to be a turning point in American politics. This is not, as the now-trivialized phrase has it, a "teachable moment." It is a time for action.

The mainstream media and the Obama administration must stop cowering before a right wing that has persistently forced its propaganda to be accepted as news by convincing traditional journalists that "fairness" requires treating extremist rants as "one side of the story." And there can be no more shilly-shallying about the fact that racial backlash politics is becoming an important component of the campaign against President Obama and against progressives in this year's election.

The administration's response to the doctored video pushed by right-wing hit man Andrew Breitbart was shameful. The obsession with "protecting" the president turned out to be the least protective approach of all.

2. The Democrats will do what they always do: NOTHING!
So just forget it and get on with your lives. Move along. There's nothing to see here.

6. It's probably up to us
I am hoping that we actually take matters into our own hands before we become Good Germans, but it's getting very late in the game, and the most radical suggestion one ever hears is "boycott Beck!!".

They have nothing to fear, and while that is true nothing will change.

3. The Administration can start
with reversing the damage the Bush Administration did to NPR. Why should NPR be a radio version of Fox News.

5. I read the whole thing and don't see any suggestions
"The MSM should stop" is not a solution.

7. The last paragraph says the solution to me:
"The Sherrod case should be the end of the line. If Obama hates the current media climate, he should stop overreacting to it. And the mainstream media should stop being afraid of insisting on the difference between news and propaganda."

............

There is too much egg shell tip toeing by both the Obama Administration and the MSM and they both need to question everything that is put out by Faux News in the future! We'll see how much of this has been a "teachable moment" and now how well the lesson has been learned in future situation that involve anything Faux (Fox)! It is time to step up to the plate and make sure this never happens again and Fox is put in their proper entertainment news for GOP propoganda slot!

10. There is no "egg sheel tip toeing" by the MSM
part of our problem is that people like you think that Big Media is benign. They are actively engaging in trying to destroy the president and Democrats. And once again, I see no solution from EJ.
