Major news outlets like MSNBC pre-empted their coverage of Obama's Town Hall meeting in favor of the GOP's big announcement.
The big announcement turned out to be only a promise of an alternative budget strategy in the future. The GOP stars did touch on the usual conservative GOP mantra about lowering taxes (read: give more money to the rich). Then Eric Cantor and other GOP mouthpieces each took turns at the microphone to criticize President Obama.
To viewers, it seemed like a mighty pathetic attempt to turn attention away from the historic worldwide Town Hall Meeting that was taking place between President Obama and ordinary Americans. Unfortunately, the ploy worked to some extent at least, because cable news channels like MSNBC interrupted the Town Hall Meeting to allow the GOP to pursue their usual hand-wringing and whining about the same stuff they've been whining about since November.
Apparently Boehner, Cantor and others in the GOP believe that if they just keep saying the same old stuff over and over again, repeating the same nonsense about tax cuts for the wealthy creating jobs, that someone will forget that it's been tried before and was a disaster.
Minority Whip Eric Cantor, along with fellow Republicans John Boehner and Paul Ryan used words like "gusher" to describe Obama's spending but like bad timing or a missing punch line, they resembled nothing more than the 3 Stooges without a script. Watching the debacle that was supposed to be the important bold strategy by the GOP, was almost enough to make one feel sorry for the GOP pathos created by 8 years of Bush. But then I remembered watching C-Span yesterday and seeing Cantor light up like a Christmas tree when one of the ultra conservative right wing base phoned in to the show and called the U.S. President a fascist.
