McCain suing Jackson Browne
LOS ANGELES - John McCain may have lost the presidential election to Barack Obama, but his campaign seems absolutely determined not to lose to Jackson Browne.

The singer/songwriter sued McCain in August after the Republican candidate for the highest office in the land used his song, “Running on Empty,” in a campaign commercial that targeted Obama’s energy plan. At the time, many didn’t take the legal threat very seriously, but based on two motions filed this week in U.S. District Court in California, the McCain campaign sure does.

Represented by attorney Lincoln Bandlow at Spillane Shaeffer, McCain has filed two 20-page motions.

2. I'm not an attorney, nor do I play one on tv
but McCs arguments seem full of holes. The whole 'free speech' thing is really weak. He's really a narcissist if he thinks he's making that song more popular. I just wish he would go away.

3. Oh, I cannot wait...
To see what pitbull Browne shows up with as his lawyer. Someone is about to get eviscerated, and it ain't Browne.

5. This is beyond belief!
One would think the songwriter/artist would have more "standing" than crazy McCain who just tried to "use/steal" Jackson Browne's work.

If McCain succeeds in this lawsuit, I will be beside myself!

ME? I think an artist should be able to control the use of their product...at least as long as they're still alive. (I truly can't imagine the anger/disbelief that occurs when an artist finds a work of theirs aligned with something/someone they truly despise/don't believe in! (i.e. Jackson Browne and John McCain. YUCK! I'm sure that's his politically correct reaction to this association!)

If John McCain pursues this lawsuit...music lovers should let Sen. McCain know how much we DON'T respect him for this move!

7. McCain isn't suing Browne, lol. In his desperate attempt to DEFEND himself
in Browne's suit against HIM, he is filing a couple of motions, one of which is a very nasty anti-SLAPP motion alleging that he is the aggrieved party because that mean Mr. Browne harmed his free speech rights.

McCain is proving he really is low-life scum. Way to go.

8. McCain is counter-suing the guy whose intellectual property he stole?
That will get him far in court. lol What a waste of the court's time, and the taxpayer money that is probably paying for his lawyer. He should have the pay all legal and court costs associated with this bs when this merit-less case gets tossed out on its ass.
