Did Palin herslef issue a statement that her daughter had mono for @5 months? Is that where locals got that impression, or did it originate through an informal gossip-chain? Started by Palin? Started by others? Was the mono story true, and maybe occured at the same time, while at this aunt's house? Or was the mono story a lie altogether? The impression I got from local sources, was that Palin's daughter wasn't transferred to another high school, but was "absent" from the same high school due to illness. That's what the locals all seemed to believe, but the story below tells something different. Or does it?
It's a matter of whether a deliberate cover-story was created. Another detail to settle, but I think it's relevant. All the sources I read seemed to know nothing about a transfer to this aunt's house - in spite of the fact that the story below says "widely reported". Not from what I saw, prior to Palin's announcement about it the other day.
And also, if Palin's daughter was "shipped off" to an aunt's house, I would understand that. But it doesn't say Palin's proud of her, and that everything about it's A-ok, to me. Why didn't she just release a statement before? Anyway, someone should ask before this story's considered "done".

Republican family values: Episode 5,728
Why was Bristol Palin not living at home and instead attending high school 43 miles away in Anchorage, where she was living with her aunt?
The Washington Post reports today:
Bristol Palin attended high school in Wasilla, where her mother grew up. But it was widely reported by town residents that while the Palins continued to live on Lucille Lake in Wasilla, she had moved to the home of an aunt in Anchorage and was attending high school there.
And, later in the piece, there seems to be confirmation that the father, Levi, in question, is Levi Johnston of Wasilla:
In Wasilla, a young woman who answered the door at the home of Levi Johnston said, "Any comment will have to come from the campaign."
