1. This paragraph is interesting:
"Within the black faith tradition that Obama appeals to, hope is the belief that, in spite of all evidence to the contrary, our circumstances can be transformed into something previously unimaginable. It is this notion of hope—coupled with organized resistance from the people catching the most hell—that led to the end of slavery, Jim Crow, and apartheid. In Obama's corporate-sponsored universe of meaning, however, hope is not the predicate for radical social change, but an empty slogan that allows for a slick repackaging of the status quo."

It is actually quite well written.

3. K and R
I agree with the author...BO offers nothing in the way of Change...the new boss is the same as the old boss...just a new face.

He is corporately bought, paid for, and wrapped up in The Best Marketing Plan Ever Developed by Corporate America.

Would someone answer me this: why does BO's health plan cover the children, but not the children's parent? Mom gets sick, dies....and then what? Doesn't he care if the mothers have health insurance...or is this their punishment for having children out of wedlock? He has to know the statistics on today's births...large number are single mothers. He sure sounds like a fetus lover to me....all of those 'present' votes??? And all of his religious crap...I prefer a separation of church and state.

I don't trust him as far as I can throw him....

And to the title of the article...add another word that starts with 'c'....CALCULATING!

Thx for the post.
