Reid a big fan of Reagan the speechmaker

Washington — So it seems presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama isn’t the only Democrat unafraid to say something nice about former President Reagan.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid this afternoon welcomed five Nevadans who will be his guests tonight in the gallery for President Bush’s state of the union address.

In telling them about his own appreciation of watching the event live, he reflected on listening to Regan deliver the address 25 years ago.

“The way Reagan could deliver a speech was unbelievable,” he told the Nevadans. “I would have to wake myself up … from being mesmerized by his speaking ability.”

The whole 'Reagan' schtick is really overblown ....

Reagan was a speaker who offered an actor-trained delivery that helped him be an effective public speaker ...

To say so falls something short of canonization ....

when he wasn't having brain farts we later found out was Alzheimer's.

He could make one feel warm and fuzzy about being indifferent and apathetic to the plight of others.

even though they were sometimes corny! The only thing I can say I liked about Reagan was his jokes.

I don't see the similarities with Obama's comments.
