Howard Dean gaining support while Bush losing support from Conservatives?
Edited on Wed Nov-19-03 11:50 AM by Skinner
I live in Virginia and I get two local newspapers. One of them is called "The Crewe Burkeville Journal". I normally just glance over them to see what is going on in the local area, and to see what the conservative Columnist Charley Reese is blabbering about this week.

Well anyway I opened up the opinions page and was hit with a whole page of anti-Bush and pro-Dean content. Needless to say I was stunned. I live in an area full of staunch Republicans who are the same people Dean is trying to target, the "Guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks."

I thought it would be nice to share what the "Guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks" are saying.

-------------------------------------------
"Dean wants to be Candidate of guys with Rebel Flags".
Editorial by Rick Gunter

Howard Dean may or may not be the best candidate for the Democratic Presidential nomination. But we feel a measure of sorrow for him after he stepped into the bucket of tar that awaits any mortal in his arena who dares to exercise his freedom of speech.

The other day, Dean dared to say the truth. In an interview with The Des Moines Register, Dean mentioned the Confederate flag. "I still want to be the candidate for guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks," he told The Register. "We can't beat George Bush unless we appeal to a broad cross section of Democrats."

Judging from the reaction, one would have thought Mr. Dean had said the Pope isn't Catholic.

3. Whether we like it or not
that is already an issue and there are people out there who feel
abandoned by both parties, would you rather have them vote for Dean or
four more years of Bush?

4. There are already websites
Republicans for Dean and Conservatives for Dean. I think any of our candidates get the same type of support if they're good at pointing out that Bush is a republican in name only and he isn't a conservative.

6. I can't.
Like I said in my opening it's from a local newspaper. They don't have a website. Therefore I had to type it word for word from the newspaper and because they had no website I could not link to it. I know the rules, I would have done that had I been able...

Anyway back on topic -- Yes I agree that Dean will do for Democrats what Reagan did for Republicans. The Republicans have screwed themselves by moving to far to the right and have left the average Joe Conservatives behind.
