My money for the GOP? Give it back (Denver Soc Sec forum)
Edited on Wed Aug-03-05 02:43 PM by brooklynite
Colorado's U.S. attorney, Bill Leone, says he can't prove that a White House staff volunteer impersonated a Secret Service agent when he removed three Denver residents from a presidential Social Security forum in March.

...snip...

"Criminal law is not an appropriate tool to resolve this dispute," Leone said in a statement Friday. "The normal give and take of the political system is the appropriate venue for a resolution."

Fair enough. I want my money back.

The Bush administration claims the Social Security forum held in Denver on March 21 was an "official White House event." That means it was not supposed to be a partisan political rally. That's why taxpayers had to pay for it.

Given the U.S. attorney's take, I'm trying to calculate my refund.

1. "I want my money back." Spencer gets right to the point. And it sticks.
We are paying to be propagandized. This may even top U.S. agencies paying for TV commercials to shill administration policy

The White House has refused to tell me how much it cost to fly the president and his entourage to Denver on Air Force One or to say what you and I paid to rent the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum for the Social Security forum. There is, apparently, no need for such details at nonpolitical official White House events.

The president's people billed his March 21 appearance as a "town-hall meeting." It was supposedly held to hear viewpoints on the president's Social Security reform plan. Unless, of course, the White House thought your viewpoint opposed the commander in chief's. Then, you were escorted out before he arrived."

2. That was worth a congrats email
An atta-boy goes along way to compensate for the lack of that green stuff. It may not put food on the family, but it helps you feel you're on the right path.
