D. Podvin, A Who's Who of Who Sucks--scathing re Dem legislators
A WHO’S WHO OF WHO SUCKS

The United States Senate is a place where those who can’t tell the difference between right and wrong perpetrate evil with the complicity of those who can. Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy can certainly tell the difference, but like his Democratic colleagues he doesn’t allow that ability to affect his behavior.

When considering the nomination of Condoleeza Rice to be Secretary of State, Leahy noted that Rice was an incompetent National Security Advisor who had repeatedly deceived the American people. The senator then said this: “My vote in favor of Dr. Rice is difficult to explain. It is more the product of a belief than a cold analysis of her record. I believe that Dr. Rice is capable of learning from her mistakes and changing her ways. That she will rise to this new challenge. That she can be a good Secretary of State.”

Leahy’s vote is not difficult to explain. He is a coward whose stated principles have no practical significance. This real life Barney Fife is so obsessed with capitulating to an administration that has tarred Democrats as unpatriotic that he gave Rice the benefit of the doubt even after admitting there was no doubt. . . .

A Democratic senator is supposed to condemn a nominee who deceived this nation into supporting an illegal war and then helped prosecute that war in a barbaric manner. Praising a Democrat for not passively submitting to the depravity of Condoleezza Rice is morally equivalent to exalting a business partner for not embezzling. It is an excruciatingly degraded standard by which to judge people. . . .

I can't do justice to this piece with the 4-paragraph rule, please read the whole thing. Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, nobody is spared who has been a cowardly wimp (virtually all of them). This should be sent to every Democrat in Congress with the warning that he or she CAN and WILL be replaced.

5. What he says is true...but glad she got 5000 Roses because it might
shame them into being more responsive in the future. Flowers instead of Cash is a good way to shame them. And, to show that "The People" should have a seat at the table, once again.

2. Excellent article...
I hope that we get more and more of this kind of truthful report.

I am posting it on two other Dem message boards. Also, will send copies to Schumer and Clinton though I think neither of them really gives a damn.

Clinton is pretty sure of a win no matter what...so unless half of us stay home she is a shoo-in in 2006.

3. As my late father was fond of saying
"What's wrong with stating the obvious?" Laughed at some of the more scathing remarks, even those I found a little unfair. The core truth of the editorial remains. How many times a week do you read about our party's senators voting for the most heinous and evil piece of crap legislation and then shake your head and say, "well, there must be a reason." There is - we've become a party of gutless wimps that stands for nothing. Hope the Dean selection for DNC chair changes this tone. It's okay to be mad, it's okay to show it, it's okay to fight god damn it, it's okay to "state the obvious." In fact, to survive as a party and a nation it is absolutely required.

He's fun to read and his observations are always spot on even if they can sound a little "OTT" at times...:D

6. snail mail to Feinstein (she blocks my emails)
Senator Feinstein,

This article, as harsh as it is, accurately conveys how Democratic voters feel about the way Democratic senators are representing us: you are holding back for a battle that you never fight. You are mentioned by name in a less than favorable light.

You have shown a willingness to put your family’s business interests ahead of the interests of the people. The people of California need Senate Democrats to start fighting EVERY battle, or there won’t be any democracy left by the time you do decide to fight. You could still be one of the heroes in this story, or you can continue to make life relatively easy for the profoundly corrupt and anti-democratic Bush administration, in which case progressive will be forced to find someone to replace you in the next primary election. It’s up to you.
