3. Baffling.

Right-wing yappers (you know who they are) were screeching racism (and sometimes sexism) whenever legitimate criticism was raised over Rice's NSC performance. What baffled me is that nobody countered with this: Colin Powell, whom Rice is replacing, is black and Madeleine Albright, whom Powell replaced, is a woman. It's not as though Rice is blazing a new trail. The fact that the yappers were so quick to screech racism only shows how fast the Bush Administration wanted that smokescreen up. But now that they've already used it for Rice, will they dare try to repeat it for Gonzales?
