47. and he should have been
It's not an endorsement of morality, it's an acknowledgment of significance.

Lest we forget, Henry Luce was a cold-blooded monarchistic fuck, famous for dismissing his blatant skewing of the news by saying "I'll give them the news I want them to have."

You're absolutely right, and for consistency's sake, I'd be perfectly fine with Rove taking the crown. As far as I can tell, Rove's actions have had more of an impact on the world this year than anyone else.

7. Yes, Hitler Was Once Too
Man of the Year is not always a compliment, although many see it as such.

MOTY is supposed to be the person who had the biggest influence on news. In 2001 they wanted it to be Osama bin Laden but were worried about the backlash when people would see it as an award.

50. This may not be the best thing for Rove
Anything that sheds light on that bastard and his dirty tactics isn't necessarily the best thing for him. Until now, he's generally been used to running around in the shadows. After appearing on Time, more people will begin to look at and examine Rove for his role in the Bush machine and it's re-selection. They may find much about him is less than savory.

Though I was hoping to see him discredited and disgraced by a Kerry victory over his rotten strategy, sometimes winning the battle only delays a catastrophic, crushing defeat at the end of a long war. A lot of good Rove's supposed "genius" is, if it leads the country down a dark path to disaster. Would it not be worse for him to be ultimately known in history as a man who had a key role in destroying the United States?

Remember that Hitler also was named a person of the year. My understanding is that it's meant to be recognition of impact, and not necessarily in a good way.

Rove wins that.

Do they decide early enough that Kerry could still win on a fraud bombshell if it were to happen?

EDIT: LMAO

" Some selections have been notoriously unpopular, such as Adolf Hitler in 1938, Joseph Stalin in 1939 and 1942 and the Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979.

Bush was named Person of the Year in 2000. "

She's got solid proof now, on film, so the issue of election fraud & the need for recounts will finally hit mainstream by Thursday at the latest. If it doesn't snowball from there, then I'll know this country's really in trouble.

A Machiavellian kind of award. Anyone can do it, if they've changed enough things. The things they change can be turning gold into shit piles-but if you changed that gold into shit piles at a world record pace you may be qualified to become "Time's Person of the Year."

54. What's wrong? Did you pay attention to this election? He deserves it!
Edited on Wed Nov-17-04 09:31 AM by End of all Hope
Think about it. He was head of the campaign that successfully cast an arrogant, spoiled brat with a chip on his shoulder as a better choice for president than an intelligent, sensitive, socially conscientious war hero.

Was there any single figure with greater influence on the outcome of this year's election, which in turn bears an overwhelming effect on the course of future history? He appealed to the worst of human nature: hatred, fear, xenophobia, bigotry, ignorance, jealousy, and greed. Whether you are willing to accept it or not, for all practical purposes he won, and in turn destroyed our faith in the American people almost irrevocably.

It's been a terrible mistake of the media in the past to ignore Karl Rove. In turn, it is a mistake for you to underestimate him. We might be in a very different position today if others in the Kerry campaign had spent more time studying and countering the social psychology of Karl Rove. I'm glad that somebody is finally drawing attention to this political parasite, even though it may be too late.

George Bush is only the mask. Karl Rove is definitely Man of the Year.

It must be tough to never feel love.

Think about these things (they must be eating Karl alive inside): Karl's got a corrupt Supreme Court, a corrupt media, a corrupt Republic party, corrupt voting machines and Sec of States, and the 9.11 Reichstag Fire
AND STILL THE THINKING PEOPLE REJECT KARL'S IDEAS AND THE MAN KARL LOVES.

Bush wasn't elected this time either. It must be miserable to be Karl.

I'd almost feel sorry for Karl but his party is wreaking havoc and misery on a planetary scale, so he gets no pity from me.
