Estonian soldier killed in Baghdad roadside bomb
One Estonian soldier was killed and five others wounded when a roadside bomb exploded in the path of their convoy in Baghdad on Monday, Estonian military officials said.

The Estonians were patrolling on trucks when an improvised bomb exploded under one truck, killing a soldier, an army spokesman said, without providing the exact location of the attack.

The US military reported the same attack, which they said had targeted a convoy in western Baghdad on Monday, killing one soldier in the US-led coalition and wounding five others.

Estonia has 45 soldiers serving with US-led forces in Iraq and has lost one serviceman so far, who died in February in a gun attack in the Iraqi capital.

2. Dammit!
The Estonians were bribed and browbeaten into this "Coalition" by the B*shthugs. I believe the US helped Estonia get into NATO in exchange.
My cousin's son in Estonia just finished his military service a year ago -- but he could have been one of them.

Screw the oil, it's not worth human lives from any nation. End the War!

3. Down to 44 troops from Estonia

Unemployment rate in Estonia:
10.1% (2003)

I wonder if this is part of the reason they agreed to send a few troops?

:-(

very sad

5. In other news,
Estonia has troops.

(not intended to mock estonian troop losses, intended to point out the ridiculousness of *'s "coalition")

6. Good point
I find it ludicrous that the B*shthugs are listing such tiny nations as members of the Coalition. I'm sure the only reason that all these itsy bitsy nations belong to it is because they were the only ones that could be intimidated, unlike France or Germany.

Incidentally, before gaining its freedom in 1991, Estonian men were conscripted into the Russian Army.
