Australia targeted for first time in Iraq car bomb

Australian troops in Baghdad came under attack on Monday for the first time since the end of the Iraq war when a car bomb exploded injuring three soldiers and damaging an Australian armoured convoy.

"This is the first time that Australian vehicles have been attacked by a direct enemy action," Australian Defence Force spokesman Brigadier Mike Hannan told a news conference.

"Of course it does not mean they were specifically the intended target of the attack," Hannan said in Canberra.

...I just finished watching Alexander Downer talking about this on Lateline.

First they showed an American soldier saying that there was Iraqi taxi parked on the side of the road and basically they waited until the Australian convoy was there then it exploded. Of course Downer is trying to spin it that he doesn't think we have been intentionally targeted for this. But after listening to what the American soldier had said about it, who was basically right there, well who would you believe? I know who I believe.

Also he denied that Iraq is pretty close to a civil war and that they are trying to secure everything so that the elections take place in January, and then, that will stop any form of a civil war. I swear what bloody drugs are all these people taking?
