Afghans were 'robbed' of their vote - Qanooni
Kabul - Hamid Karzai's chief rival in Afghanistan's first presidential election, Yunus Qanooni, on Monday accused organisers of "robbing the people's vote," reiterating his charges of fraud and claiming that he would have won otherwise.

"We observed two things during the election. One, the enthusiasm of the people despite the threats by al-Qaeda, but at the same time, unfortunately the organisers of the election committed a coup and robbed the people's vote," Qanooni told a press conference in Kabul.

The former education minister and favourite of the anti-Taliban alliance of mainly Tajik commanders alleged fraud took place before, during and after the historic October 9 ballot.

"According to a survey we expected to get more than 58 percent of the people's vote."

1. Nonsense. Some of them got to vote for Karzai as many as 20 times

Anyway, Rumsfeld or one of them has explained that the process of voting is the important thing. Just like in Iraq.

Or the US.

with less than 10 million eligible voters.

thats a fantastic record. over 100% registration.

5. Actually, the only really important vote...
was the one cast by the 18y/o woman who Bush could speak about during the debate.

Rumsfeld said "nothing's perfect" but that one vote was perfect!

2. Afghanistan, sad to say, was simply a warm up for the Iraqi election
Bushco is trying out plans and schemes in Afghanistan in order to see what works for the rigged elections in Iraq.

3. Sadly, some 80% of women in Afghanistan are
illiterate. They couldn't read the ballots. But they voted anyway. They just marked a box. I guess it was symbolic of how they feel about freedom.
