Embattled Salt Lake Mayor Quits Race
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20041012/D85LTC581.html

Oct 12, 9:03 AM (ET)

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - County Mayor Nancy Workman, facing criminal charges of misspending taxpayer money, announced she was withdrawing from the Nov. 2 election.

"My doctor has strongly advised that, in his opinion, with the extraordinary stress of the ongoing prosecution, I cannot continue a political campaign without unreasonably compromising my health," the first-term Republican mayor said in a statement provided to the Deseret Morning News, which published it Tuesday.

Her campaign consultant Dave Owen said she would use a provision of Utah law allowing candidates to remove themselves from a ballot because of a medical disability.

4. No. There are no honest republicans anywhere. Self-deception is the
primary characteristic of every republican that is not consciously and deliberately evil.

In order to be a republican, you are either a deliberate lying crook, or you convince yourself that you are not a lying crook.

11. No it's not.
The Republicans last week dropped their endorsement of her and backed Ivory, a powerful home builder here in Salt Lake County. The problem was, with Workman staying in the race, she held the Republican spot on the ballot. Now that she's dropped out, the Republicans can replace her name with Ivory. That said a new Deseret Morning News poll ran last week shows Ivory within the margin of error of Corroon. If they get him on the ballot, Ivory probably will win.
