1. Ajami said (in other words) our discussion on Iraq is too late.
More should have been done before going in, and when asked about George's optimistic remarks about Iraq, he said since George is a politician in an election we should expect such things, that George knows things are a mess and that he had planned poorly. He sounded genial and understanding, but the meaning was not kind to George.

Is that about right?

He also stated that there was not much Kerry could do either as germany and France will not help, in short there is not way out but for Iraq natioalist forces to fight for their coountry! It is a no win situation for any one, US or Iraq. I hope he is wrong and that Kerry can bring some intelligent debates with allies to help in this mess!
