Bush ahead in swing states, will defeat Kerry: Karl Rove
2 minutes ago

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/us_vote_bush_rove

WASHINGTON (AFP) - US President George W. Bush (news - web sites) will defeat his Democratic rival, John Kerry (news - web sites), in the November 2 election because he is leading in the polls in the key US swing states, the president's top political adviser said in an interview.

Rove told the newspaper that the swing states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina and Virginia are already in the Bush camp. The Republicans must now hang on to Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire and Ohio, four key states that he won in 2000.

But Rove believes that the biggest problem the Democrats have "is not getting Kerry's people to dislike Bush; it's getting (them) to like Kerry."

"Hatred is a powerful emotion, but it is not a very durable emotion. You cannot maintain hatred in your heart for another person and keep it for a long period of time," Rove said.

People hate Bush and many are unsure whether they like Kerry or not.

That should still favour Kerry as I don't know many people who vote for somebody they despise.

68. Ubiquitous dark humor from the Balkans -
A Serb is walking along the beach and sees a bottle wash up in the surf. As it looks like a genie-in-the-bottle kinda bottle, he steps over and picks it up. The Serb gives it a rub, out comes the genie.

Out thunders, "I AM THE GENIE OF TH...". The Serb cuts him off, "Yeah, yeah, what about my wishes?"

The genie says, "You get ONE wish, make it good. And remember, whatever you ask for, your neighbor gets DOUBLE."

The Serb thinks, "My neighbor is a Bosnian. I don't want him to get double of my good luck." He thinks, he thinks. Then he blurts out, "I've GOT it!"

The genie says, "Yes...?"

The Serb says "My wish is that you poke out ONE of my eyes."

Ubiquitous across the Balkans - you can insert any ethnicity for "Serb/Bosnian". Darkly funny, it seems that you can even insert "Republican", too.

26. The problem with the media...
is typified here.

A partisan hack makes a statement, and the media presents it as if it were true.

"Bush ahead in swing states, will defeat Kerry: Karl Rove"

People don't read to the Karl Rove part and even if they do, they don't uunderstand it's a quote from Rove. IF they know who he is. Most people will read that simply as "Bush ahead in swing states, will defeat Kerry"

An objective media wouldn't even make this a story, or if they did it'd be..

29. It's not called "hatred," O jelly-faced one. It's called "moral outrage"
They keep spinning that lie to trivialize the anger at Bush and Company. Maybe their spin will be enough to get Bush in office, but it won't make the outrage go away.

And with the media (the PR department of the Republican Party) hiding the true depth and the true anger of Bush's "haters," the rest of the nation doesn't see what's happening, or what's coming.

If BushCo's only way to deal with this outrage is taunting and bullying, then bad things are going to happen in this nation over the next four years. I'm not calling for it, I would oppose it if asked, but there is going to be trouble like we haven't seen since the 60s, or even since the 1860s. Rove can mock all he wants, but it won't make the problem go away.

Hopefully Rove is just out of touch, and wrong. I really don't want to see what's going to happen if he's right.

One of times that Gephardt ran for president. It was toward the end of the primary season when it was clear that he had no chance of winning the nomination. I saw this interview where he was obviously totally exausted and when questioned about withdrawing said something along the lines of "I intendtowinmyparty's nominationand iwillbecomethe nextpresidentoftheunitedstates." Like a mantra, no thought, no acknowledgement of reality.

50. THESE are the "Swing States"?
Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina and Virginia

Missouri is the only true swing state there. The others are all ones in which Dems have made gains to be within striking distance. It's quite possible Bush will win those states.

And these are the states Bush must "hang on to":

Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire and Ohio

Rove knows they're in deep trouble in all those places. No way Bush wins NH. 30% of the population used to live in MA, and Kerry got an amazing number of Republican crossover votes in the primary.

59. Joke of a Newspaper
I happened to read this article earlier, I am not sure why. Its not like I regularly browse the Washington Times. But I happened to find a link to the article and read it. The absolutely amazing thing about it to me was the author (Bill Sammon) didn't even bother to get a Kerry Campaign reaction to Rove's comments. Isn't that standard reporting? It was so blatant propaganda, its pretty obvious the Washington Times doesn't have any pretense of pretending to be a real place of employment for real journalists. Nothing but PR jockeys. Pathetic.

Does the Rove makest thou assertion that the Kerry would “thrash” the Bush in debate of worldly concerns? I think not! NO! I think yes! This oral conflict, perchance, may be properly concluded by the Rove. Could it be that the Rove considers “floundering” an act of an aggressor? The Rove causes me to be so confused. The Rove has said the Kerry is the antagonist. Oh! The “assailant”, the “provoker”, the “aggressor”; oh, surely the Rove wilst clarify his substance. Is it beyond rational reflection that the Rove merely advocates the Kerry will be “flapping”; or, does the Rove merely deem the Kerry will be “flailing”?

And, I ask, “What is the peril of the Rove”? Perhaps, it is the Rove that “thrashes”!

Kerry "will be the best debater the president's ever faced," Rove told the Times. "We underestimate Kerry at our peril. He is very good at this; he's an aggressor. He goes in there flailing."

63. Wanna bet, Karl?
I have sustained my hatred for you and your ilk for a long time. Even when you are defeated, and, I hope, jailed, I will hate you.

I have sustained my very durable hatred to the point that I have become an activist. I register people. I call. I walk my precinct. I table. I raise money. I write LTTEs. I will get out the vote.

Thanks for the reason to hate you, Karl. It is energizing all of us so much that you will have to crawl back into the spider hole you came from after November.
