NEW YORK -- Denied permits for rallies in Central Park, the leaders of two anti-war groups said yesterday that thousands of demonstrators could wind up on the Great Lawn this weekend anyway.
Leslie Cagan, national coordinator for United for Peace and Justice, announced a new route for protesters to follow Sunday, marching past the Madison Square Garden convention site and on to Union Square Park.
Beyond that, she said, it's up to individuals whether to travel to Central Park, where permission to stage a rally was turned down by the city and a state Supreme Court judge.
"We ask that you follow our march to the end, that you disperse peacefully and then make your own way to Great Lawn," Cagan said

When asked what she would do there, she responded, "I'll probably take a picnic lunch because I won't have eaten all day long."
