Bush re-election campaign rebuffs USOC
(subhead)
Political spots with Olympics references will run through Games

Bush campaign spokesman Scott Stanzel said the ads will continue through Sunday, the final day of the Athens Games.

“We are on firm legal ground to mention the Olympics to make a factual point in a political advertisement,” Stanzel said.

The USOC asked the campaign to pull the ads on Thursday, committee spokesman Darryl Seibel said. The ad shows a swimmer and the flags of Iraq and Afghanistan.

1. Bush's response to the USOC. "Tough shit, we're technically allowed."
Shows a real sense of teamwork and humanitarianism, no?

6. but *'s campaign managers could have done the respectable
thing and shut it down during the olympics (but everyone knows that "respectable" and "republican" don't belong in the same sentence, let alone in the same hemisphere)...

3. I hope Kerry will keep pounding on the theme
Of how stubborn Bush is. He's like a man stuck in the terrible twos.

5. their "factual point"
"two more nations are free" has been refuted by at least four of the Iraqi soccer players and their coach. . .

"We are not free. We are under occupation. This is one of the most miserable times."

Another team member "If I was not a soccer player, I'd be an insurgent." (that one player was from the garden spot of Falluja.)

Then yesterday , an Iraqi player named Kshaish said,

"Tell the American human beings to help Iraq. Not the soldiers, not the government, we do not believe them. We believe in the people behind them, the human beings of America, and Iraqi's need their help"

So heartwrenching. How dare * exploit them. . .? Please don't answer that "?" Unfortunately I know the answer.
