Nader Won't Be On Indiana Ballot
From the Indianapolis Star:

Independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader won't be on Indiana's ballot in November.

"I'm extremely disgusted," said Dallas Stoner, Nader's Indiana coordinator.

He blames Indiana's ballot access laws -- among the toughest in the country -- for setting a difficult standard to reach. Nader supporters, Stoner said, haven't collected even half of the 29,552 petition signatures they needed to have by noon today for Nader to be on the ballot.

"Not even close," Stoner said.

Kevin Zeese, national spokesman for Nader's campaign, said Indiana is "the first state we're not going to make."

2. Dallas Stoner
"Nader's Indiana coordinator."

Well no wonder they didn't collect the signatures. LOL.

3. Not only that, but his assistants,
Houston Coker and Austin Boozer, were unable to attend the press conference due to "prior commitments"...

4. Nader on ballot?
It's meaningless. Bush will win Indiana by 20 points. Kerry is invisible in this state.

6. More a sign of trouble for Nader
Edited on Wed Jun-30-04 04:43 PM by awakeinindiana
No question that Indiana is a red state, and it's a very tough state for an independent to get on the ballot. Without the Green Party endorsement Nader will miss the ballot in several states. This is just the first.

I fully expect Bush to win here, but in the polls he's topped out at 52%. Kerry's been in the high 30's but he's not working the state at all yet.

Without Nader the Indiana vote could be close on November 2 and that would be indicative of good things for Kerry nationwide.

5. In the words of Nelson Muntz...
HA! HA!

And I like this:

He blames Indiana's ballot access laws -- among the toughest in the country -- for setting a difficult standard to reach. Nader supporters, Stoner said, haven't collected even half of the 29,552 petition signatures they needed to have by noon today for Nader to be on the ballot.

Typical Nader. It's everybody else's fault and never his fault.

12. Indiana is not a battleground state
It's solidly red. Here are the battleground states according to Larry Sabato's Crystal Ball:

Florida
Arkansas
Nevada
Oregon
Ohio
Missouri
Michigan
Arizona
Colorado
New Mexico
Minnesota
Wisconsin
Iowa
Louisiana
Tennessee
Virginia
West Virginia
Pennsylvania
New Jersey
New Hampshire

Personally, I think that you really have to watch Ohio and, if it comes down to it, Nevada. If Sabato is right about every state except Nevada, we'll have a tie in the electoral college with the decision going to the House of Representatives, where Bush has the votes. Man, what a circus that would be. It would make 2000 look like a tea party.

13. It's the reddest state in the eastern US.
It's the only state in the eastern half of the U.S. that's never gone for a Democrat in modern political history, except for 1964.

11. nader was on ballot in 2000
because i voted for him. it was a vote swap: i voted for nader knowing gore would not win here; and someone in tennessee voted for gore instead of nader.

15. You "think" someone in Tennessee voted for Gore instead of Nader
You don't really know who the person in Tennessee voted for.

17. Vote Trading between Nader and Gore in 2000 was a great idea
The problem was that Nader condemned it. It would have been a way for the Green Party to get recognition and qualify for Federal matching funds without electing Bush.

Then Nader spent the final weeks of the 2000 campaign running hard in THE SWING STATES.

Fortunately, Nader's ballot access is in dis-array. His website is still pleading for an individual to volunteer to be the Statewide Coordinator in many different states. He needs 26,000 valid signatures for Pennsylvania- and every signature better be valid.

18. No. The problem is that there is no way to confirm who a person voted for
I could tell a hundred different people that I will trade my vote and then vote for anyone I please. Who would know? A vote is too precious to be treated like little kids trading baseball cards. It is a stupid idea. The smarter people learned that after 2000. Especially when we know the Republicans will cheat, lie, and steal to win.

14. Why is it
Edited on Wed Jun-30-04 08:52 PM by fujiyama
that Nader gets on ballots in those states that can make the difference in this election but doesn't get on the states that Kerry hasn't a chance in hell in winning.

I really couldn't care any less if Nader is on the ballot in Idaho, Texas, and Indiana.

However, it is a problem when he's on the ballot in Florida, Wisconsin, New Mexico and Oregon...then again I get the impression that Nader wants to get on the ballots in swing states more because I actually believe he truly wants Bush elected...

Nader truly is one petty, vindictive person.

19. Qualified in Zero States So Far
I heard Nader interviewed live yesterday on the radio. He was asked "In how many states are you currently on the ballot?" Nader hesitated, couldn't name any, and then mumbled something about "filing in some states with early deadlines."

Nader then launched into ANOTHER attack on Michael Moore, claiming that Moore has made too much money and thereby become a tool of the rich.

It is time to stick a fork in Nader, he's done.
