(CPOD) Jun. 28, 2004 – George W. Bush could carry the state of Wisconsin in the 2004 United States presidential election, according to a poll published in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. 46 per cent of respondents would vote for the Republican incumbent, while 42 per cent would support prospective Democratic nominee John Kerry.

Independent candidate Ralph Nader garners the support of five per cent of respondents. The election is scheduled for Nov. 2.

Democrat Al Gore won the state’s 11 electoral votes in the 2000 election, defeating Bush by just over 5,000 ballots. The last Republican to carry Wisconsin was Ronald Reagan in 1984.

1. You know it just seems possible.
I like the idea of turning down the oxygen a little bit at a time on the Bush campaign.
All the more fun seeing him grasp and struggle.

2. Margin of error is 4%
Poll is statistically weak. But from what I've seen, I think it is still much too overly kind to Bush in this state. Even a lot of Republicans are sick of his junk.

3. This is the Badger Poll, and it ALWAYS has more pro-Bush results
than other polls. A couple of months ago, they had Bush up by 12!?

5. There are very few theaters
showing f911 in Wisconsin so most people will have to wait for the DVD.

6. Comparing Wisconsin to Indiana...
it appears to be about the same number of theaters. And Indiana's population is just slightly more than Wisconsin's.

7. There will be more theaters showing it everywhere. This thing is taking
off. It is now a business decision on the part of theater owners. They all want a piece of the pie regardless of ideology.

8. I Don't Understand Wisconsin
It went Gore, what is going on now?

I have to think WI is going to go Kerry this election, but I have yet to see a poll w/ Kerry ahead...

9. Its the NRA and a couple of young Repuke congress men
They show pictures of FINE SWINE and are convincing 800,000 thousand deer hunters that Kerry et al are out to take their guns away, the same with the Governor who first supported Dean and now supports Kerry after he vetoed concealed carry. Which was almost overridden by 2/3 s

There are a lot of Labor Democrats who always vote for the republican if they think their fire arms rights are in danger.

It sucks but that's the reality.

14. The Margin was only 6000 votes
Reagan was the last Repuke to win here-- Mike Dukakis carried the state by 110,000 votes in 1988. Clinton won in 92 and 96

15. Say Mark Belling and Charlie Sykes and Journal Communications
Journal Communications (privately held) owns and operates:

They lobbied for the ownership changes and were set to go public. But now that seems to of fell to the wayside with FCC policy being overturned.

The Journal Sentinal Newspaper
WTMJ 620 AM Talk Radio Packers, Brewers, Rush, Belling, Sykes etc...
WTMJ Channel 4 TV NBC Affiliate

They put Belling on the Radio and TV with his own show and his column runs in Waukesha's Paper the Freeman. I have had letters published that counter Belling, thankfully. These guys drive the "low/no tax" "cut spending" crowd by pointing out loudly every tiny instance of waste until no one want to give a dime for anything anymore. And people wonder why the schools are going down the toilet.

Belling sat in for Rush when he was drying out if I recall. I can't stand him. He is caustic, crass and mean.

Sykes and Belling - They basically control political dialog in SE wisconsin by cosntantly marginalizing any thing coming from Madison or Public Radio or that has any differing viewpoint other than the Rovian party line.

TV - W - "Touch My Jock" is particulaly insipid. Fluff reporting and extreme violence coverage of inner city black on black killings.

Journal Communications is the BANE SE Wisconsin.

10. The election is scheduled for Nov. 2.....
Somehow that statement strikes me as sort of odd. Not the election WILL be held Nov. 2nd, but is SCHEDULED for that date. Like there is a chacce that it might not come off as planned?

12. No way Nader's going to take 5%
In 2000, he was polling at about 5% in WI, and ended up getting around 2-3%, since a lot of Greens crossed over and voted Gore at the last minute.

This time, without the Green Party behind him, I can't see how he'd get any more than that. I bet Nader does far worse in 2004 than he did in 2000.
