Clash ahead of Bush visit to Turkey
ANKARA, Turkey (AP) -- Turkish police fired tear gas as more than 100 left-wing demonstrators hurled rocks and used sticks to try and break down a police barricade during a protest Saturday ahead of U.S. President George W. Bush's arrival in the country.

The clash came amid intense security in anticipation of Bush's visit and the opening of a NATO summit in Istanbul on Monday.

Some 6,000 people, mostly members of trade unions and leftist groups, gathered in the center of Ankara, with some chanting "Murderer U.S.A. get out of the Middle East."

2. I Have A Dream...
not a nice, uplifting one, like Dr. King's, but a vengeful, fate-riven one, where a tyrant gets his comeuppence in a foreign land, before the elections, something a little more permanent than just being egged on Inaugural Night...

Isn't it notable, by the way, how old Stay-at-home George is traveling so much these days?

ass out there to get international help for Iraq.

Didn't make much of an impression in Ireland and now The Turks are calling him what he is. The good thing about ol' ugly smirk face being over there is that they get the real news ..not some dick cheney's version of approved news.

5. WP link
ANKARA, Turkey - Turkish police fired tear gas at more than 150 left-wing demonstrators who hurled rocks and tried to smash through a barricade in Ankara on Saturday, just hours before President Bush arrived for a NATO summit.

Police used bomb-detecting dogs to comb the area around the hotel where Bush is expected to stay, and security officials closed streets throughout the capital, part of a massive operation following Thursday bombings in Ankara and Istanbul that killed four people and injured 17.

Also Saturday, supporters of Jordanian-born militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi said they had kidnapped three Turkish workers in Iraq, Arab TV station al-Jazeera reported.

An al-Jazeera employee told The Associated Press that the group threatened to behead the hostages within 72 hours if Turkish companies did not withdraw from Iraq.

Left wing?

What does that mean anyway?

9. In this case, because they ARE left-wing
Mostly unions and left-wing civil organizations. Don't get me wrong, even right-wingers are Anti-Bush in Turkey (although that's not enough reason to like them for me); but they did not go to this protest.
