Al-Qaeda singles out Berlusconi
ACERBIC comments directed at Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and attributed to al-Qaeda were widely reported in the Italian press today, just days ahead of a visit to Rome by US President George W Bush.

The message, posted on an Internet site and attributed to Abdel Aziz al-Muqrin, the head of al-Qaeda in Saudi Arabia, claims responsibility for the bloody weekend siege at a housing complex in the eastern Saudi oil city of al-Khobar, in which 19 foreigners and three Saudis were killed.

It says: "Among the crusaders killed there was also an Italian, whose throat was slit as a gift for the Italian government and its leader, a little stupid and arrogant, who is proud of his hostility towards Islam and of having sent troops to fight Muslims at wars like in Iraq and other countries."

The Italian, 25-year-old Antonio Amato, had recently been hired as a head cook at the upmarket Oasis housing compound in al-Khobar. He had his throat slit along with eight other foreigners.

1. IF Al Queda are NOT on the bush* payroll...they have lost
a great opportunity....???

Lets see, Italy primed for the worst anti bush* demonstrations on the planet..and Al Queda says Italy is subject to it's wrath???

How dumb are we supposed to be again?

3. Yes, once more, very convenient timing
And quite colorful language. These guys could get jobs as script writers (if they don't already have them). Imagine, making Bersculoni into an object of sympathy (or at least trying to).

5. It doesn't surprise me
Al-Qaeda don't care about your, or mine, or any other "infidel's" political goals or projects.

Why would they not want to harm the Italians and the Italian PM? After all, they are 'crusaders' and allies of the US -- and Al-Qaeda aren't going to start playing nice all of a sudden if Kerry is elected after all.

7. Right. And Bush will ride in on his horse and save Italy from the
terrible Al Qaeda scourge. This is so transparent.

8. I'm sure little Silvio has
beads of perspiration building on his fat little forehead right now. His pudgy little body races up and down the stairs of his mansion in Rome, as he checks the nooks and crannies before he goes to bed at night. He probably has security people around the clock to keep an eye on their pudgy premier.

Nitey-nite, Silvio. Don't forget, you've got company coming this week. It should be a Wild Week.
