Foreign fighters in Iraq could spur diplomatic showdown (Gen. Myers)
Edited on Fri Aug-08-03 11:11 PM by Nambe
ORLANDO, Fla. (Reuters)

The continued incursion of foreign fighters into Iraq could lead to a diplomatic showdown between the United States and Iraq's neighbors, America's top military officer said on Friday.

"It's a serious issue," said Gen. Richard Myers, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff. Earlier in the day, Myers had been with U.S. President George W. Bush and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld in Texas.

After a moment of reflection, he softened that assessment. "It's a potential issue. I don't know if it's a big issue yet," he said.

Foreign fighters are among the possible suspects in a truck bomb attack on the Jordanian embassy in Baghdad on Thursday that killed at least 17 people.

Myers said diplomacy -- to a greater extent than either intelligence or border patrols -- is the first front in keeping foreign elements out of Iraq. ---

3. Right you are
Jordan issued a statement last week of having Chalabi transferred to Jordan to stand trial for his theft of 20 million from a Jordanian bank, one week later the Jordanian embassy was blown up........:eyes:

The INC is the only "foreign threat" in Iraq.

4. Myers is Rummys obedient errand boy
Rummy's OSP is getting exposed as a cabal of crooks, so he trots out the General to make false charges as another avenue of bringing neo-con war to Iran and Syria.
