Iraq (news - web sites)'s defense minister said he wanted U.S. troops out within the year, to be replaced by newly trained Iraqi forces.

Shortly before Bush spoke, Washington asked the United Nations (news - web sites) to endorse a plan that would give U.S. forces an open-ended mandate to stay in Iraq, renewable in a year.

But Iraqis, from the streets of Baghdad to the ranks of the U.S.-installed administration, made clear they wanted a final end to 14 irksome months of occupation as soon as possible.

"Bush is a scorpion. He is a liar. He is sneaky, making all kinds of promises when he just wants to control Iraq," said Ayman Haidar, a policeman on duty in Baghdad.

2. Damn. Ayman Haidae rocks!
""Bush is a scorpion. He is a liar. He is sneaky, making all kinds of promises when he just wants to control Iraq," said Ayman Haidar, a policeman on duty in Baghdad."

A Baghdad cop does more in depth, honest journalism with one sentence about Bush than most of our media have done in four and half years.

Ayman Haidar for VP!!!

6. The Iraqis will be in charge...
But we're staying, too.

So, if the Iraqis are in charge and they ask us to leave...do we say "NO"?

Strange.

7. The Speech Was For The US Sheeple
In an effort to get Dimbo re-selected. Notice how he spoke in front of a military audience to show off his "leadership" qualities?
