August 17, 2011 -- Updated 0351 GMT (1151 HKT)

-- One video showed the tiny face of the slain girl wrapped in a shroud.

Someone pulled back a bandage to show her bloodied right eye. Her mouth was frozen, slightly ajar. Her vacant face and lifeless head conjured the image of an alabaster bust.

Another more gruesome video showed the girl before she was cleaned for burial. She lay sprawled on a pavement, bloodied and disheveled, like a crime victim caught in a tabloid snapshot.

The images surfaced Sunday and Monday in Syria, where more than 2,000 people have died in five months of bloody conflict between security forces and anti-government demonstrators.

The victim was O'laa Jablawi, a 2 1/2-year-old girl from the besieged port city of Latakia, shot in the eye and killed when she and her parents attempted to flee the besieged city on Sunday in a car that came under fire, activists said.

2. How horribly tragic.
It reminds me of the photos from Iraq, expecially from Fallujah of the beautiful children murdered there for no good reason, and of those still being slaughtered, now by cowardly Drones in several countries, but mostly in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

And the perpetrators of those crimes, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Bush, Ledeen, all of them, live in luxury and sadly, will never be held accountable as we once hoped would happen once we had a Democratic President and Congress.

The people of Syria hopefully will one day get justice, hopefully soon. Poor little baby!

3. So I looked at the video
And I wish I would not have, it really bothered me. I am not an expert on foreign policy, however I think we would have had the credibility to do something more in Syria had we not ran into two wars.

Very, very sad. I prayer for this little girl and her family and the people of Syria as well.

7. We have no right to judge Syria for shooting toddlers.
Considering the number of Middle Eastern babies that American soldiers have shot, bombed, and dismembered.

Gog to Google Image Search and put in the keywords "Iraq Baby shot by Americans". It's enough to make you cry. And vomit.

Of course, Americans being the hypocrites that we are, we'll probably eventually insist on an invasion of Syria as well, so we can "protect" their babies by killing hundreds more.
