Bush Sealed Hamas Leader's Fate - Palestinians
1 hour, 42 minutes ago Add World - Reuters to My Yahoo!

By Nidal al-Mughrabi

GAZA (Reuters) - "It was Bush."

The verdict was near unanimous amid the tears and rage on Palestinian streets after Israel killed Hamas leader Abdel-Aziz al-Rantissi in an air strike Saturday that many Arabs felt President Bush (news - web sites) must have approved.

"Bush has Rantissi's blood on his hands," said Khamis Saadi, among tens of thousands who swept into Gaza's shabby streets.

"All doors to hell should be opened against the Israelis and against the Americans," he cried.

16. LOL! You sure like your murder, don't you?
But pardon me if I don't take morality lessons from supporters of political assassination.

3. Do the Iraqis know about this yet?
They were pretty upset a month ago. I wonder how this is going to go over with them.

4. Accept it: we are Israel
It's been the plan of the desperate and the calculated, and it's the joy of the neo-cons: equate Israel with the United States. Let's just say that it's been done now. We are them, they are us, and anything they do will be seen by the rest of the world as actions of ours. Reality doesn't matter; perception alone will do.

They have a very strong emotional thing going on with "the jews" and the state of Israel.

and I wonder how many Jews know that.

11. Oh, definitely. It was the worst thing we could do, but the Likud
party favored it, and here we are. How could this administration have been so unbelievably stupid and naive? Previous administrations realized the danger of such a definition--why couldn't this one?

6. Not quite accurate
First let me say the following, what Bush should be critisized for is that he did not continue with the peace negotiations that Clinton left him. This was incompentent, and put us in the position of not wanting to find a fair and balanced agreement between the Palestinians and the Israelis

As far as the "assasination" of the latest Hamas leader, that is not because of Bush. Israel did what they did because the opportunity presented itself, and they thought it was in their interest, just like any other country does.

As long as the following position is held by Hamas, Israel will not negotiate with them:

Hamas is opposed to Israel's existence in any form. Its platform states that "there is no solution for the Palestinian question except through jihad". The group warns that any Muslim who leaves "the circle of struggle with Zionism" is guilty of "high treason". Hamas' platform calls for the creation of an Islamic republic in Palestine that would replace Israel.

Unfortunately, too much water, or should I say blood, has flowed under the bridge, so I doubt any near term negotiation is possible, unless we push both the Israellis and the Palestians to the table.

12. Mari, I've been reading your posts today and tonight.
I've read some previous ones. I hope and pray that he's fine--the situation over there sounds very dire, and you probably haven't heard from him simply because connections have been cut. He is probably not allowed to communicate right now.

You are very sweet and brave to let us know about your situation and his.

14. The Palestinians are oddly like George
In their total inability to ever take responsibility for anything that happens to them or their victims.

It is ALWAYS someone else's fault. Like the beater who blames his wife for making him angry.

And they are NEVER sorry.
