(Rupert Murdoch's Newscorp) Phone-hacking scandal widens to include Kate Middleton and Tony Blair

MP calls for expanded investigation as list grows of those allegedly hacked by Jonathan Rees for News International.

"Prime minister, powerful forces are attempting a cover-up," Watson said. "Please tell me what you intend to do, to make sure this doesn't happen."

HOLY COW! HUGE twists and turn in this case! It looks like the police who covered up the phone hacking investigation were they themselves hacked. WOW...the potential for the police to have been blackmailed is now huge. Why would a straight up cop in Scotland Yard suddenly work so hard for a cover up? Maybe because they had been listening to his phone conversations.

Give this article a read...it also covers the fact that a second person is being investigated much more deeply. The first investigator had hacked nearly 6000 people. Now there are two and the number of hacked politicians, celebs and crime victims probably just doubled.

WHich means the money Rupert Murdoch will have to pay out doubled...and, somewhere in here, will be a call for his head. The man's company has been hacking the royals, the government and the police and the information has been used to to undermine every elected official Rupert Murdoch didn't like.

If England does not demand his head (metaphorically, of course) then Democracy in England is dead.

Fox News, I have no doubt, has been doing the same thing here in the United States.

5. Could that be how Breitbart gets some of his stuff?
I think they followed Edwards through his cell phone. I remember reading something like that on Huffington Post way back last year some time.

Things to note:

Jonathan Rees is a particularly nasty criminal, still employed by News International (and the publishers of the Mirror, a competitor) after he got back out of prison (for conspiring to plant cocaine on a woman so that her husband would get custody of their children). Rees was recently acquitted, after several years' legal wrangling, of the 1987 murder of his business partner.

Another policeman left the force, became Rees' new business partner, and was then convicted for possession of child porn. Rees is said to have embarrassing and/or incriminating photos and details of several policemen, customs officers and more.

Rees targeted not just celebrities and politicians, but the governor and deputy governor of the Bank of England, and the handlers of agents inside Irish Republican movements - people who could get killed if their details get out.

Edited to add: He used freemason contacts to acquire more dirt on people. More here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011/jun/08/phone-hacking-scandal-jonathan-rees
