Romney to outline plans for health care repeal
Source: USA Today

Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney will outline his plan to repeal the nation's health care law, in a major speech on Thursday that's sure to recall one of his own political liabilities.

As Massachusetts governor, Romney signed into law a health care plan that required most residents to obtain insurance coverage -- a mandate that's similar to the one contained in the federal law signed by Obama that Romney says he wants to overturn.

Obama has cited the Massachusetts law as an inspiration for the federal law that's been lambasted by nearly all the GOP hopefuls who want his job.

During a speech in New Hampshire in March, Romney defended the Massachusetts health care law as something that was "unique" to address the Bay State's issues.

Huh? So, Romney is both defending MA law, which he signed with bi-partisan support in MA, but suggesting that there are problems with it, and pushing for repeal of the federal law, which is similar?

My goodness, he may break McCain's record for flip flops in a single speech.

10. No, you need to pay attention to the flip flops! ; )
1. He was for it (Signing the bi-partisan bill as Mass Gov);
2. Before he was against it (Obama should have asked him about MA problems with it);
3. Before he was for it (it is the right thing for Mass);
4. Before he was against it (it should not be extended nation-wide due to state right);
5. Before he was for it (he is proud of his role in getting the bill passed).

13. Why would Obama ask Mitt? Deval Patrick, Obama's campaign co-chair, is Governor of Mass.
Edited on Wed May-11-11 12:57 PM by No Elephants
Was for two years before Obama ran for POTUS. Axelrod ran Patrick's campaign, too, so we had a preview of Obama's campaign.

While Governor, Romney was too busy getting nationally known to know what was going on in Massachusetts.

He's right about Romneycare having lots of problems, though.
