Kloppenburg Calls for Recount
Edited on Wed Apr-20-11 04:27 PM by Pharaoh

Today JoAnne Kloppenburg has called for a recount of the Supreme Court election results. The Wisconsin State AFL-CIO applauds her decision

“An honest and open recount is the only way that the voters of Wisconsin can have confidence in the results of the 2011 Supreme Court election,” said Phil Neuenfeldt, President of the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO. “A manual recount will only add to the integrity of the electoral process and provide reassurance to the unprecedented amount of voters who came out on April 5 to make their voices heard.”

“This race was a dead heat before something questionable happened in Waukesha,” said Stephanie Bloomingdale, Secretary-Treasurer of the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO. “Each and every voter in Wisconsin deserves to be certain that their vote counted and was counted correctly.

2. Why am I so gleeful over this? Because I suspect there's a chance....
...this recount could expose widespread, systematic election fraud.

We shall see.

5. That can be the only reason Prosser is trying to fight
to stop the recount, he knows there was election fraud and that it will be found out.

7. BREAKING: Kloppenburg Files for Statewide 'Recount' in WI Supreme Court Election

BREAKING: Kloppenburg Files for Statewide 'Recount' in WI Supreme Court Election
Will ask for hand count in several districts; Calls for special prosecutor in Waukesha County...

Wisconsin's Asst. Attorney General JoAnne Kloppenburg has filed paper work for a statewide, state-sponsored "recount" in the controversial April 5th state Supreme Court election.

Speaking to supporters at a press conference moments ago in Madison, Kloppenburg pointed to a number of reported irregularities around the state, including in Waukesha County, as well as Racine and Milwaukee and a number of other areas, that led to her decision to ask for such a count. She also mentioned unusually undervote rates in a number of areas that the campaign had examined.

"I've asked for a recount to determine what the right count is, and also to preserve confidence in the electoral process," she said in response to a question from reporters.

Kloppenburg stated that her campaign would be asking for a hand count of ballots in a number of districts, and will work with the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board (G.A.B.), the state's top election agency, to determine which areas should be hand counted. State recount procedures allow for a machine recount of paper ballots unless ordered by a court for hand examination.

Referring to critics of such a post-election examination of results, Kloppenburg was unflinching in her response. "They've called it a drama and a circus, but actually it's called American Democracy."

During her remarks, she also called for a special investigator for controversial Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus, the focus of a number of anomalies that have appeared in election results since Election Night…

12. Statewide recount! On Wisconsin!
We always hope that liberals will stand up for the common people, but are usually let down (Al Gore, straw-man candidate John Kerry) when election fraud is committed. I'm so glad JoKlo is shining some light on our election system, it truly is the best disinfectant.

20. Perhaps the most significant thing in this article is the call for a special investigator
She is not just asking for a recount, she is asking for a criminal investigation. You can bet that Walker and Nicklaus are terrified right now, Kloppenberg has an amazing lawyer heading up her recount efforts and you can bet he is going to everything he can to expose these people.

22. Thanks JoAnne . . .
I sent money as soon as I knew there would be a recount. Please support this. I don't know what a recount will uncover, but something is truly weird in Wisconsin.

24. Prosser Campaign Vows to Block a State-Sponsored 'Recount' in WI Supreme Court Election Debacle

Well--that was 2 days ago--stay tuned.

Prosser Campaign Vows to Block a State-Sponsored 'Recount' in WI Supreme Court Election Debacle
Incumbent Republican Justice declares 'decisive' victory over Kloppenburg in state-wide race said to have been won by 0.488%...

Via Eric Kleefeld at TPM...

The Prosser campaign went on the offensive at the presser in hopes of keeping a state-wide examination of ballots, meant to ensure the true winner of the 10-year term on the state's high court, from taking place at all.

As Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Patrick Marley reports Prosser campaign attorney Jim Troupis said, "We will take every and any step to prevent this frivolous matter going forward."
................

"Reporters asked multiple times what grounds the Prosser campaign would use to object to a recount, given that state law entitles a candidate losing by less than 0.5% to request one at state and local expense," writes Kleefeld. "When a reporter bluntly asked Troupis whether he would say what grounds would be listed in an objection to a recount, compared to what is in state law, Troupis simply responded: 'No.'"

The article also quotes Prosser himself, in all his Orwellian wonder announcing, "This was a decisive election about judicial independence." Then, just minutes later, the long-time partisan Republican who had, during the campaign, signaled his intention to help facilitate the political agenda of Gov. Scott Walker and the GOP state legislature, thanked his voters for their support of "the advancement of conservative values as the way to address and ameliorate our many problems."
