Star wire servicesOTTAWA—Prime Minister Stephen Harper is heading to France for an emergency summit on the crisis in Libya.
Harper will join the leaders of France, Britain, the Arab League and the United Nations for Saturday’s talks in Paris on the international intervention in Libya.
He has committed six Canadian war planes to help enforce a no-fly zone over Libya, despite Moammar Gadhafi’s surprise ceasefire declaration.
Canada is sending the CF-18 fighter jets to join an international effort authorized by a United Nations Security Council resolution on Thursday night. The planes from Canadian Forces Base Bagotville, Que., are to fly to bases in Italy.
